𝟏𝟐𝟖𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬

More than a century ago, a torch was lit in Malolos, carrying the hopes of Filipinos who longed to govern their own nation. From that flame emerged not merely a declaration, but a vision of a Filipino nation determined to chart its own path toward self-government and independence.

Within the walls of Barasoain Church, history found its voice as Filipino leaders and delegates gathered to shape the foundations of a nation. The Malolos Congress became more than a gathering of representatives; it became a symbol of hope, courage, and the Filipino aspiration for self-government amid the continuing struggle for national independence. Through heated debates, bold ideals, and unwavering courage, the delegates laid the foundations of a republic whose heartbeat was freedom.

Today marks another milestone in the long journey of the Philippines toward freedom, independence, and nationhood—a history shaped by the courage and sacrifices of those who came before us. We shall not waste the freedom they fought for, nor allow their sacrifices to fade into the pages of history. Instead, may we continue to live by and live for the nation. For the torch they once carried, lit by the courage of those who fought for freedom, has been passed from one generation to another—and now, it rests in our hands to keep its flame alive.

"For He has been mindful of the humble state of His servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed"
— Luke 1:48

The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary marks the joyful birth of Mary, the Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ. Chosen by God from the beginning to become the Mother of the Savior, Mary’s birth heralded the dawn of a new chapter in salvation history. Through her humble and faithful “yes” to God, she became the vessel through which Christ would enter the world, bringing hope and salvation to all humanity.

Today, we celebrate the birth of the woman who would become the Mother of God and the humble handmaid of the Lord. Her life reminds us that God often begins His greatest works through the simplest and most hidden beginnings. In Mary, we see a heart completely open to God’s grace—a heart that trusted, obeyed, and faithfully followed His will.

As we rejoice in the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary, may we entrust ourselves to her loving intercession and seek to imitate her humility, purity, obedience, and unwavering faith. May her example inspire us to open our hearts more fully to God and to faithfully respond to His call in our own lives.

May the Blessed Virgin Mary intercede for us, that we may grow in faith, hope, and love, and remain faithful to Christ in all circumstances. May her maternal care guide us closer to her Son and lead us ever more deeply into the joy of His presence.
