As the Federation of Student Councils convenes to elect the next Student Regent, here are the important things you need to know about the process
After weeks of consultations, campaigns, discussions, and engagements across the University, the Federation of Student Councils will officially convene tomorrow to elect the next Student Regent of Bulacan State University. Unlike traditional student elections, the Student Regent Election follows a federated and deliberative process.
Student Council Presidents, as representatives elected by their respective student bodies, will gather to evaluate the nominees, engage in discussions, raise questions, and collectively determine who is best suited to represent more than 45,000 BulSU students in the University's highest policy-making body.
The process does not begin and end with voting. It involves presentations of platforms, open forums, consensus-building, deliberations, and a final vote anchored on the BulSU Charter, its Implementing Rules and Regulations, and the FSC Code.
As the Federation prepares to make this important decision, we encourage every student to stay informed about the process and understand the significance of the office being elected.
The next Student Regent will not only represent a college, campus, or sector—but the entire BulSU student community.
Tomorrow, the Federation decides.

18th BulSU Student Regent Election Calendar
As BulSU continues to navigate pressing challenges affecting student welfare, the need for principled, competent, and genuinely representative student leadership has never been more crucial.
Across the University, students continue to confront concerns ranging from accessibility of services, academic and financial burdens, policy implementation, campus-specific issues, and the broader responsibility of ensuring that student voices remain heard in university governance.
At a time when critical decisions continue to shape the future of the student body, the selection of the next Student Regent must not be reduced to a mere electoral exercise. Rather, it must serve as a rigorous democratic process that allows students, sectors, and councils to thoroughly examine the qualifications, platforms, principles, and commitments of those seeking to become the highest student representative of the University.
The Student Regent serves as the official representative of the students in the Bulacan State University Board of Regents (BOR), the highest governing and policy-making body of the University. As the voice of the studentry in the Board, the Student Regent carries the responsibility of advancing student welfare, safeguarding democratic participation, and ensuring that the concerns and aspirations of BulSU students are reflected in university policies and decisions.
In recognition of the significance of this mandate, the election process provides dedicated periods for sectoral campaigns and council-based deliberations. These stages are essential in ensuring that various sectors of the student community—including organizations, publications, socio-cultural groups, student-athletes, working students, persons with disabilities, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and other stakeholders—are given sufficient opportunity to scrutinize the candidates and assess their capacity to represent the diverse realities of the student body. Likewise, Local Student Councils are encouraged to conduct comprehensive discussions and deliberations within their respective bodies.
Amid the challenges confronting our University and the student movement, genuine representation remains a necessity. The election for the 18th Student Regent is ultimately an election for leadership that is accountable to the studentry, responsive to the sectors, and committed to advancing the rights, welfare, and interests of all BulSU students.

Uphold International Humanitarian Law!
Hustisya para kay Alyssa Alano!
