SAFE & READY: Empowering HSAM Educators for a Safer School Community

Holy Spirit Academy of Malolos conducted the seminar “SAFE & READY: Empowering HSAM Educators for a Safer School Community” on September 8, 2026, with Atty. Robert V. Labe Jr., JD, Ph.D., CCO as the resource speaker.

The seminar provided our educators with valuable insights on safety awareness, preparedness, and shared responsibility in creating a secure and caring school environment.

Through this initiative, HSAM continues to empower its educators with the knowledge and confidence to respond to challenges and promote the well-being of every member of the school community.

Together, let us remain safe, prepared, and ready to make a difference.

Today marks the 128th anniversary of the inauguration of the Malolos Congress, which was convened on September 15, 1898, at the historical grounds of Barasoain Church in Malolos, Bulacan.

From the courageous days of striving for independence to the opening of the Revolutionary Congress, those visionary steps laid the foundation for Asia's first republican constitution. Looking back at the birth of the First Philippine Republic reminds us that our fundamental rights – our voice, our education, and our sovereignty were hard-won.

As we commemorate this history today, it prompts a deeper question: how do we honor the heavy sacrifices of our past through the freedom we carry and protect in the present?

True independence isn't just a date on a calendar or a chapter in a textbook; it is a daily commitment. It lives in how we safeguard our civil liberties, how we participate in our communities with integrity, and how we ensure that the democratic ideals fought for by our heroes remain a living reality. Guided by our school's motto, “Truth in Love”, may we continue to uphold these values – seeking truth in our history and letting love for our country inspire us to build a more just, united, and compassionate nation.

𝓗𝓸𝓶𝓲𝓛𝓲𝓰𝓱𝓽 | 𝓐 𝓢𝓹𝓪𝓻𝓴 𝓸𝓯 𝓕𝓪𝓲𝓽𝓱 𝓯𝓻𝓸𝓶 𝓔𝓿𝓮𝓻𝔂 𝓗𝓸𝓶𝓲𝓵𝔂. 🕊️✨❤️

In his homily, Fr. Niño Jomel De Leon reminded us that correcting others is part of our Christian duty. Yet before we point out what needs to change in someone else, we must first look at ourselves. It is easy to notice another person’s faults while overlooking our own. If we want to guide others, we must first learn to discipline and correct ourselves.

This call to discipline also extends to how we care for creation. As we observe the Season of Creation, we are reminded that the earth is our common home and a shared inheritance. We cannot simply pray for change while refusing to change our own habits. Caring for creation also requires us to take responsibility for the world around us and consider what we are leaving for others.
HSAians, before we guide others, may we first have the humility to look within and make the changes we ask of them. 🌱
