On December 19, 2025, at SPAMAST, the BSED English 1 students stepped beyond the classroom and competed in the Dancexercise Competition under PATHFIT 1, alongside various programs. Rising among 20 entries, they earned 6th Runner-Up, proving that English majors carry excellence in every form—whether in words or in movement.

Anchored in the theme “𝐈𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐑𝐡𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭,” their performance reflected the flexibility of the English program, where creativity, discipline, and holistic growth come together.

𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄 | The Society of English Majors (SEM) triumphantly concluded ‘𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝘼𝙍𝙏𝙄𝘾: 𝘼𝙥𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙏𝙤𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙨 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙝𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣’ with an inspiring closing program held at Bolila National High School (BNHS) on November 27, 2025. The concluding visit ensures that the school and the students have been motivated for this literacy extension program throughout all of the phases and visits.

The highly successful culmination was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the BSED English 4, accompanied by SEM officers. The closing program for Project ARTIC, which highlighted remarks that inspired the students, appreciation of their achievements, and gratitude for the school collaboration, showed how the project affected the BNHS students' reading comprehension experience. This significant endeavor was led under the supervision of the BSED English Program Head 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐘𝐚𝐩, along with English faculties, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐄𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐨 and 𝐃𝐫. 𝐅𝐞 𝐓. 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐲. By ensuring that the project's completion was grounded in both academic excellence and a real sense of community involvement, their leadership enabled aspiring educators to develop their enthusiasm through real-life teaching experiences.

The BSED English program spearheaded the opening ceremony of the 91st National Book Week with the theme “𝙏𝙪𝙡𝙤𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙖𝙜𝙗𝙖𝙨𝙖, 𝙨𝙖 𝘽𝙪𝙠𝙖𝙨 𝙣𝙖 𝙋𝙪𝙣𝙤 𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙖𝙜-𝙖𝙨𝙖”, held on November 24, 2025, at the SPAMAST Founder’s Hall. Hosted by 𝐌𝐬. 𝐑𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐥 𝐀𝐧𝐧 𝐌. 𝐈𝐩𝐚𝐧, BSED English 4, the event featured messages of support from 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐑. 𝐀𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚,𝐕𝐏𝐀𝐀 𝐃𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲𝐧 𝐁. 𝐋𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐠, and 𝐒𝐔𝐂 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐫. 𝐋𝐲𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞 𝐀. 𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚, who also led the Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony. Participants later visited the Book Fair Exhibits guided by the SPAMAST Library Staff.

As the week progressed, the celebration continued with various activities promoting literacy and creativity. To cap off the event, SPAMAST held its Culmination Program, showcasing student participation and awarding winners from the National Book Week competitions.

A proud highlight was 𝐌𝐬. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐋𝐚𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐓𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 of BSED English 3, who represented the English Department by winning as one of this year’s Book Character standouts, earning recognition for her creativity and portrayal.

The week-long celebration successfully strengthened the institution’s commitment to reading, learning, and fostering a community that values literature.

On the evening of November 16, 2025, Malita witnessed a crowning that was more than just a pageant—it was a celebration of purpose, intellect, and heart. Rhechel Ann Masayao Ipan, our former SEM President, claimed the coveted title of Binibining Malita 2025, not simply as a contestant from Barangay Poblacion, but as a shining example of what an English major can achieve when passion meets purpose. Her victory was a masterclass in poise and substance—proof that confidence doesn’t need theatrics when it’s built on knowledge, conviction, and vision.

Rhechel’s winning answer was nothing short of inspiring. Rooted in quality education and climate action, it reflected the clarity and critical thinking that define our discipline. She framed education as a shared journey—a blend of academic excellence, environmental stewardship, and everyday conscious choices. In her words, we found a challenge and a call to action: true education is not just about personal growth but about shaping a better world. In a time of persistent inequalities, her vision reminded us that meaningful change happens when communities, scholars, and institutions unite.

For the Society of English Majors, Rhechel’s triumph was more than a crown—it was a celebration of our essence. 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘 | With a renewed spirit of service and an unwavering commitment to literacy, the Society of English Majors (SEM) of SPAMAST carried forward Phase 4 of “Project ARTIC: Appreciation for Reading Towards Improved Comprehension” during its second outreach visit to Bolila National High School on November 13, 2025 At Brgy. Bolila, Malita. The return visit transformed the school grounds into a vibrant learning space where stories, skills, and aspirations once again converged.

Guided by SEM officers—Alex Dagit Jr. (President), Ryan Christian Lao (Vice President), Bunny Mae Cebujano (P.I.O.), and Yukari Shoso (Assistant Secretary & UNIFED Assistant Secretary)—the fourth-year English majors led engaging reading tutorials crafted to deepen comprehension and track learners’ growth since the initial session. The team’s creative strategies, gentle mentoring, and learner-centered approaches fostered an atmosphere where reading became not only a task, but an enjoyable journey.

This meaningful endeavor thrived under the leadership of Prof. Khayrizzia P. Diuda, whose supervision ensured that every activity aligned with the project's vision of cultivating stronger, more confident readers. Her guidance continues to empower future educators to refine their craft through real-world teaching experiences anchored in purpose and community engagement.

For the second time around, the SEM extends heartfelt appreciation to the SPAMAST administration for its steadfast support in sustaining initiatives that shape the next generation of compassionate and competent educators. Through efforts like Project ARTIC, SPAMAST-SEM remains steadfast in nurturing English educators who uplift communities, ignite curiosity, and champion the transformative power of reading.

On October 30, 2025, Thursday, the 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫𝐬 (𝐒𝐄𝐌) proudly took part in the 𝐀𝐁𝐊𝐃 𝐒𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐮𝐦 (𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐊𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬) held at the AVR, SPAMAST Main Campus. The crucial event was spearheaded by the 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞 (𝐏𝐍𝐏) in collaboration with the 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐎𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭 (𝐄𝐎𝐃–𝐊𝟗), who conducted the session with a highly engaging and informative approach.

Representing the organization were our dedicated and proactive officers — 𝐉𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚, 𝐘𝐮𝐤𝐚𝐫𝐢 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐨, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐲𝐚𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐨, who actively participated in the insightful discussions centered on bomb awareness, safety protocols, and the significance of community vigilance.

The symposium served as an eye-opening reminder that safety begins with awareness — that being alert, reporting suspicious objects, and taking proactive measures can save countless lives. Through shared knowledge and preparedness, every SPAMASTian can become a guardian of safety within their community.

More than just a celebration—Paaso 2025 became a day of laughter, teamwork, and shared stories. From games that brought out everyone’s playful spirit, to meals that tasted better because they were shared, every moment wove another thread into friendship and culture.

The English Majors showed not only their wit in words, but their warmth in unity, proving that learning extends beyond the classroom; it lives in connection, compassion, and community.

Here’s to the joy that echoes louder than competition, and to memories that linger longer than the applause.

𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄 | 𝐒𝐏𝐀𝐌𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐳 𝐁𝐨𝐰𝐥 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬 9𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞, 𝐓𝐨𝐩𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐲

Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental — October 29, 2025.
In a battle of intellect and quick wit, the SPAMAST Quiz Bowl Team proudly carried the banner of the Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) during the Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) 2025 Academic Festival held at Queenseth Hall, Holy Rosary, Oroquieta City.

The SPAMAST contingent was composed of 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝗮𝘆 and 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗵 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗶 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮, both Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English students, alongside 𝗠𝗶𝗿𝗼 𝗝𝗼𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼 and 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗵𝘂𝗮 𝗧𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘆𝗮𝗻. Guiding them to victory were their mentors, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲 and 𝗠𝘀. 𝗖𝗼𝗵𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲, whose unwavering support and expertise fortified the team’s preparation throughout the competition.

Representing not just intellect but heart, Jusay and Flordeliza embodied the English majors’ enduring spirit—grace under pressure, eloquence in thought, and passion for knowledge. Despite limited resources and challenging rounds, the team’s perseverance led them to shine among 25 participating institutions across Mindanao.

Proving their mettle among Mindanao’s brightest, the team achieved an impressive 9th place overall and emerged as 1st in the Regional Category, a testament to their dedication, sharpness, and pursuit of excellence.
