The College of Nursing proudly marked another milestone in its continuing pursuit of innovative, technology-enhanced nursing education with the successful launching of its SMART Classroom, last August 6, 2026.

The newly established SMART Classroom represents the Collegeโ€™s commitment to creating a dynamic, interactive, and future-ready learning environment for its nursing students. Designed to integrate modern educational technologies into classroom instruction, the facility provides an enhanced platform where students can engage in collaborative learning, interactive discussions, multimedia presentations, and technology-supported activities.

This milestone would not have been possible without the visionary leadership and unwavering support of the BukSU University President, Dr. Joy M. Mirasol, together with the Vice Presidents of Bukidnon State University, Dr. Hazel Jean M. Abejuela, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Carina Joane V. Barroso, Vice President for Research Extension and Innovation, Dr. Lincoln V. Tan, Vice President for Culture Arts Sports and Student Unit, with Mr. Dante S. Victoria, Jr, Vice President for Administration & Finance.

The College of Nursing extends its sincerest appreciation for their commitment to providing students and faculty with meaningful opportunities, improved learning facilities, and resources that advance the quality of education in the University.

Through the SMART Classroom, faculty members are provided with opportunities to employ interactive teaching strategies, digital resources, multimedia content, and technology-assisted learning activities. These approaches can encourage greater student participation, critical thinking, collaboration, and engagementโ€”essential competencies for future nurses navigating an increasingly complex and technology-driven healthcare environment.

With this milestone, the BukSU College of Nursing continues to move forwardโ€”embracing innovation, empowering learners, and shaping nurses who are prepared to care, lead, and make a difference in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.

The BukSU College of Nursing kickstarts the 1st semester with its Level Orientation, led by the Level Coordinators: Ms. Angelie Chariz E. Eduave for Level 1, Mr. Giovanni Jan N. Sanchez for Level 2, Ms. Hazel Ann J. Olvida for Level 3, and Dr. Ma. Theresa B. Plete for Level 4, together with all the level clinical instructors.

The series of orientation featured inspiring words from our College Dean, Dr. Ma. Algerica T. Cuenco, who encouraged students to embody confidence, character, and optimism, while reminding them of the importance of nurturing themselves as they continue their journey toward becoming competent, compassionate, and committed nurses.

Students were also oriented on academic policies, Related Learning Exposure (RLE) policies, as well as the course syllabi and rotation plan for their major subjects. These discussions provided students with a clearer understanding of the expectations, responsibilities, and learning opportunities that await them throughout the semester.

The Orientation served as a foundation for a purposeful and successful semester. By providing students with essential information, clear expectations, and guidance from their faculty and level coordinators, the activity helps them become better prepared to navigate their academic and clinical experiences.
As the new semester begins, the BukSU College of Nursing remains committed to guiding every learner, strengthening every foundation, and inspiring every future nurse to pursue excellence in education, clinical practice, and compassionate care.

The second day of the International Academic and Partnership Visit of the faculty and student delegations from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) and Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur (UMKT), Indonesia, began with a courtesy call at the Office of the University President, where the delegates were warmly welcomed by Bukidnon State University officials.

The delegates then attended the Opening Program, followed by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Bukidnon State University and Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur. The MOU formalized the partnership between the two institutions and established opportunities for future collaboration in nursing education, research, faculty and student mobility, community engagement, and other academic initiatives.

This was followed by the signing of Implementation Arrangements between Bukidnon State University and Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, as well as between Bukidnon State University and Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur. These arrangements provide specific mechanisms for the implementation of collaborative activities, including short-term faculty and student exchange programs and research engagement.

The visiting students were then toured around the BukSU Museum and Herbarium, where they gained a deeper appreciation of Bukidnonโ€™s cultural heritage, biodiversity, indigenous knowledge, and natural resources.

The delegates later participated in an Academic Lecture Series led by the visiting faculty members from UMY and UMKT. The sessions were also attended by the Level II nursing students of the BukSU College of Nursing, providing them with valuable international perspectives on nursing, public health, community engagement, and contemporary health concerns. The activity encouraged meaningful academic interaction and the exchange of knowledge among the visiting faculty, BukSU faculty members, and nursing students.

In the afternoon, the delegation visited partner barangays and local communities, where they observed Philippine primary health care services, community-based nursing practices, local health programs, and the important contributions of barangay health workers in promoting the health and well-being of the community.

The visit concluded with a short tour of Malaybalay City before the delegates departed, providing them with an opportunity to experience the cityโ€™s culture, landmarks, and natural environment.

Day 2 highlighted the shared commitment of BukSU, UMY, and UMKT to strengthening internationalization through formal academic partnerships, knowledge exchange, cultural immersion, and community engagement.
