🏓 POV: You’re watching our parents play Pickleball. 👀💙💛

I have to admit, watching this game was something else.

Pickleball is still relatively new to many of us here in the Philippines, so it was really something to see our Marywoods parents take the court, paddle in hand, and just go for it.

You could see different styles unfold on the court: some played with smooth, swift movements, others with impressive precision, while some brought so much grit and determination that you could tell they weren’t giving that point away easily. 😄🏓

And then came one of those moments that made the game even more exciting to watch: a team was already quite behind on the scoreboard, but instead of giving up, they slowly caught up in the later part of the game. Suddenly, every point mattered. Every rally had us watching a little closer.

That’s what I loved about this game. It wasn’t just about knowing how to play. It was about trying, adjusting, staying in the game, and having the courage to keep going.

🏀 Foundation Day Sportsfest: Women’s Free Throw Highlights!

A little focus, a little pressure, and a whole lot of fun! 🏀🔥

Our women stepped up to the free-throw line and gave it their best shot. Some shots found the basket, some missed, but every attempt came with courage, good sportsmanship, and a willingness to join in the fun. 💙

The competition moved indoors, but the fun and excitement stayed just as strong! From fast rallies in badminton and table tennis to the quiet focus and strategy across the chessboard, our players showed different kinds of skills and, most importantly, the willingness to join, try, and enjoy the game. 😊

🙏 24 Years of Faith, Formation, and Transformation🕊

As we celebrate the 24th Foundation Day of Marywoods Academy, we began by coming together in prayer and thanksgiving through the Holy Mass. 🙏

Twenty-four years ago, Marywoods began with our founders'
dream, faith, and the courage to take a step into an unknown future. Like Simon Peter in today's Gospel, there may have been fears and uncertainties, but there was also the willingness to trust God and move forward.

During his homily, Fr. Carlo Lacang, SJ, shared a beautiful thought about what Marywoods has built through the years.

He called it our superpower. 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️
Not a superpower that gives us extraordinary abilities, but the capacity to bring with us the values, character, and culture we have learned at Marywoods Academy, wherever life takes us.

The integrity we practice.
The honesty we choose.
The accountability we show.
The respect we give.
The love and compassionate service we offer. 🌱

These are the things we carry beyond the walls of our school.

Whether our graduates become professionals, business owners, parents, community members, or leaders in their own fields, our hope is that they continue to bring Tatak MA with them, and pass these values on to others. Because perhaps that is the true measure of 24 years; not simply how many students have graduated, but how many lives continue to carry forward the culture and character formed here. 💙

As we celebrate this milestone, we are reminded that today's students, parents, teachers, and the entire Marywoods community are part of this continuing chain of transformation.

With faith in God, may we continue to become people of character and competence, people of integrity, accountability, honesty, respect, love, and compassionate service.

🙏 And wherever we go, may we carry the Marywoods “superpower” with us.

Looking Back. Looking Ahead.

A new school year brings new opportunities, but before we move forward, it is also worth looking back at what we have accomplished together. 🌱

In this first part of our conversation with the Student Lighthouse Team, SLT Vice President Bethany looks back on some of the team's accomplishments and memorable projects from the previous school year, from fundraising activities to the wall mural that became a symbol of teamwork and shared effort. 🎨🤝

Meanwhile, our current SLT President Athena looks ahead. From initially being hesitant to accepting the responsibility of being president, she now shares her vision of building an SLT where every member feels included, empowered, and encouraged to contribute beyond their assigned roles.

Because leadership is not simply about holding a position. It is about growing with others, listening to different voices, and creating opportunities for everyone to participate.

The previous school year showed us what the SLT could accomplish together.

But this year, what else do they have planned? 👀

What new ideas will they bring to the Marywoods community? What activities can our students look forward to? And how will they make sure that more student voices are heard?

🇵🇭💛 Iba-iba man ang baitang, iisa ang saya. Iisa ang samahan.

Noong Agosto 20, naging makulay ang pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika sa pamamagitan ng Larong Pinoy kasama ang ating Intermediate at High School learners. 🪁🌿

Sa gitna ng tawanan, sigawan ng suporta, at minsan… pagkadapa at muling pagtayo 😄, mas nakita natin ang isang bagay na higit pa sa kompetisyon, ang pagkakaisa.

Magkakaiba man ang kanilang grade level, nagsama-sama sila, nag-cheer para sa isa’t isa, natutong makipagtulungan, at higit sa lahat, nag-enjoy bilang isang Marywoods Family. 🤝💙

Dahil ang Larong Pinoy ay hindi lamang tungkol sa kung sino ang unang makarating sa finish line o kung sino ang mananalo. It teaches us to work together, play fair, get back up, and celebrate one another.

At marahil iyon ang isa sa pinakamagandang bahagi ng pagiging bahagi ng Marywoods Academy, may lugar para sa bawat isa, may pagkakataong makiisa, at may mga karanasang nagpapaalala sa atin na mas masaya ang paglalakbay kapag sama-sama. 🌱

Maraming salamat kina Mr. Jhon Lanzaderas, Mr. Dave Bariga, Mr. Welgie Litocon, at Ms. Leilani Amigo sa pagpaplano at pag-facilitate ng mga laro, at sa pagbibigay ng pagkakataon sa ating mga mag-aaral na maranasan ang saya at diwa ng mga Larong Pinoy.
