With profound sorrow and deep gratitude, the Bukidnon State University – College of Law joins the legal and academic community in mourning the passing of Atty. Marco R. Hinlo, a beloved member of our faculty who faithfully served the College from 2013 to 2020.

Born on November 3, 1967, Atty. Hinlo devoted his life to the pursuit of justice, education, and service. As a professor, mentor, and guide, he profoundly shaped the lives of countless students who would later enter the legal profession carrying with them the integrity, compassion, and wisdom he consistently exemplified.

Beyond the classroom, Atty. Hinlo inspired many through his humility, discipline, fairness, and sincere dedication to forming not only competent lawyers, but principled individuals. His legacy lives on in every student he encouraged, every lesson he imparted, and every life he touched.

Today, the Bukidnon State University – College of Law honors his life with gratitude and reverence as he returns to the loving embrace of the Creator.

May his soul find eternal peace in God’s presence, and may his memory continue to inspire generations of future lawyers and servants of justice.

This activity allowed law faculty members to explore innovative digital tools that enhance teaching, learning, and academic collaboration in the field of law.

The workshop introduced participants to cutting-edge smart classroom technologies, interactive platforms, and ICT tools designed to support law professors in delivering more engaging lectures, facilitating case discussions, and improving student outcomes. Sessions highlighted practical applications of digital tools in legal education, including blended learning strategies, online resource management, and interactive case law analysis.

By equipping law professors with modern ICT competencies, the workshop underscores the University’s commitment to advancing legal education and preparing students for the demands of a technology-driven professional environment.

The 3rd Year Juris Doctor Human Rights Law Class of Bukidnon State University College of Law, under the advisement of 𝗝𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗜𝘀𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗹 𝗚. 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗼, brought care and solidarity to the PDL of BJMP Malaybalay City Jail through an outreach activity themed “The Kindness Clause: Care Behind Bars,” warmly welcomed by 𝗝𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗧 𝗠𝗨𝗥𝗣𝗛𝗬 𝗕 𝗧𝗢𝗗𝗬𝗢𝗚, City Jail Warden.

A simple act of kindness, a powerful reminder of dignity, hope, and human rights for all.

𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐁𝐮𝐤𝐒𝐔 𝐋𝐚𝐰 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐎𝐒𝐆 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩

Janina Casuanah E. Sahagun, a third-year full-time student of Bukidnon State University College of Law, has been accepted into the prestigious Office of the Solicitor General Legal Internship Program (OSG-LIP) for 2026.

The OSG-LIP is an annual competitive training initiative for incoming junior and senior law students, providing hands-on experience in government litigation, legal research, drafting pleadings, and court proceedings. Interns are mentored by senior state solicitors and assistant solicitor generals, granting students exposure to, and experience in, the highest levels of government lawyering. It will take place in Metro Manila from June until August of this year.

When asked how it felt to receive the news, Miss Sahagun said, "It was a mix of overwhelming happiness and pressure. I felt joy because I got the opportunity to experience the program, especially since this was my second year in applying for the internship. I also felt pressured because I will be bringing the name of the school and I have big shoes to fill with the extraordinary performance of the previous interns before me. However, that privilege will be my motivation to make my experience meaningful and fulfilling."

Miss Sahagun is now BukSU Law's third successful applicant to the OSG-LIP, after Mr. Jann Anthony Mag-abo the previous year, and Atty. Toni Rose Sualan in 2023. This follows Miss Sahagun's already brilliant run as one of BukSU Law's most active and dedicated student leaders, having previously served in many vital capacities in the Debate and Moot Society and in the Bar Operations Commission.

According to her debate coach, and full-time faculty member, Atty. Micah Stefan Dagaerag, "Janina has always been one of our smartest, hardest working, and most skilled students. I am not surprised at all that she was chosen by the OSG as amongst the top applicants from all over the Philippines. She really does represent the best of what it means to be a BukSU Law student, and I am exceedingly excited for her."

"I applied in the OSG-LIP Program because of my commitment and passion in public service. The program will be a great opportunity for me to be at the forefront of public litigation, and will also be an excellent training ground for me as a future lawyer. I hope this will enhance my analytical and argumentative skills by helping me bridge the gap between theory and practice," Miss Sahagun added.

“Bayanihan” comes to Bukidnon State University (BukSU) through the Mobile Community Pantry; an event dedicated to sharing food, resources, and care with the community.
