Last March 29, 2026, a different kind of movement began to unfold, one not driven by tourism, but by purpose. At around 6:00 AM, individuals from all walks of life, including members of the Young Entrepreneurs Society, gathered not just to walk, but to stand for something greater: mental health awareness.
The activity began with an energizing Zumba warm-up, setting a lively and positive tone for the day. Shortly after, participants proceeded with the community wellness walk, starting from Kasbar at Station 1 and moving toward Epic D’Mall. As they walked side by side, the “March for Mental Health” became a powerful display of unity in motion, with every step carrying a shared message of hope, empathy, and support.
Upon arriving at Epic D’Mall Station 2, participants engaged in a calming breathing exercise, allowing everyone to pause, reflect, and reconnect with themselves. This was followed by a series of mental health sessions and talks that provided valuable insights, encouraged open conversations, and strengthened awareness about the importance of mental well-being.
The march was more than a physical journey; it was a statement. It created a space where conversations about mental health could exist without fear or judgment. It reminded everyone present that behind every smile may be a silent struggle, and that kindness and understanding can make a difference. For the youth especially, it served as a call to speak up, to care, and to look out for one another.
The activity was spearheaded by the Lifelife Association Incorporated in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Malay. The event was also strongly supported by various sectors, including representatives from the Department of Tourism, SB Members Allan S. Palma, SB Hope D. Pagsuguiron, and SB Grengo Gelito, barangay officials from Manoc-Manoc, Yapak, and Balabag, as well as stakeholders from hotels, travel agencies, private organizations, and other LGU departments—highlighting a collective commitment to promoting mental wellness in the community.
As the activity came to a close, what remained was not just the memory of a successful event, but the impact it left on the hearts of those who participated. Connections were strengthened, awareness was deepened, and a sense of collective responsibility was ignited. We also extend our sincere gratitude to the Local Youth Development Office for inviting our organization to be part of this meaningful initiative, giving us the opportunity to contribute to such an important cause.
The “March for Mental Health” was not simply about reaching a destination; it was about the journey of a community choosing compassion. And as Boracay continues to move forward, it carries with it a powerful reminder: no one should ever feel alone, because together, we walk with understanding, with support, and with hope.
