On December 9, 2024, the Davao del Sur School of Fisheries’ Grade 12 Cookery students embarked on an exciting Work Immersion Program at Fabians Catering Services, Digos City a vital component of their senior high school curriculum. For the first batch, a total of 15 students, including those from the Alternative Learning System, were deployed to gain hands-on experience in the catering industry. The orientation session, led by Ma’am Cleofe D. Crispino, the owner of Fabians Catering Services, provided valuable insights into the culinary field, emphasizing the importance of practical skills in their education. This immersive experience aims to prepare the students for future careers in cooking and hospitality, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application.

Grade 11 and Grade 12 Alternative Learning System students gathered at the Davao del Sur School of Fisheries gymnasium for an orientation session. During the event, the students received an overview of the ALS program, including the different tracks available, the self-paced nature of the curriculum, and the process for submitting modules and attending face-to-face classes. The students were inspired by the motivational messages delivered by the Principal Rayki Buat, the Head Teacher Michael Heramiz, and the SHS Coordinator Joy Cabaobao, who encouraged them to take full advantage of the flexibility and support offered by the ALS program. The orientation provided the students with the necessary information and guidance to navigate their self-paced educational journey and work towards completing their secondary education.

The Davao del Sur School of Fisheries held its 7th senior high school graduation ceremony last May 29, 2024, celebrating the achievements of 384 students as they completed their secondary education.

Among the graduates were the 24 students who had attended the school's Alternative Learning System (ALS) program. 12 of these students had specialized in Home Economics (Cookery), while the other 12 had studied Industrial Arts (Tile Setting). The inclusion of these ALS graduates alongside their peers underscored the school's commitment to providing educational opportunities for all members of the community.

The SHS-ALS program, which provides a flexible, self-paced pathway for out-of-school youth and adult learners to complete their secondary education, has once again proven its transformative impact.

Their success is a testament to the power of accessible education and the determination of those who are committed to bettering their lives. These graduates are shining examples of what can be accomplished when we provide the right support and resources.

Grade 12- ALS Tile Setting students' work immersion at BIOGROW FACTORY in Malalag, Davao del Sur, was a transformative experience that opened doors to endless possibilities. Immersed in a dynamic industrial setting, these students gained practical knowledge and skills, honing their expertise. This hands-on exposure not only enriched their understanding of the real-world work environment but also instilled in them a sense of confidence and self-assurance.
