The College of Computer Studies proudly participated in the 2nd Dasmariรฑas Research Congress (DRC) held on April 30, 2025, at the Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Dasmariรฑas. This yearโ€™s theme, โ€œDiscoursing Contemporary Sustainability Issues in Education, Food Security, Science and Technology, and Climate Change for Building Smart and Resilient Communities,โ€ aimed to deepen conversations around the challenges that hinder the implementation of sustainable practices across various sectors. The theme also highlighted national initiatives and innovations led by government departments and agencies in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Two capstone projects from the College were presented during the congress:
1. โ€œSmart Faculty Attendance Using Facial Recognition of Philippine Malabon Cultural Institute with Data Analyticsโ€, presented by Ms. Katherine Anne Balboa during the 3-minute oral presentation session.
2. โ€œDevelopment of Web-Based Intelligent Parking Management System with Online Booking for City of Malabon Universityโ€, presented by Mr. John Cedrick Erojo in the 8-minute oral presentation category.

These projects showcased innovative solutions aligned with the congress theme, emphasizing technology-driven approaches to education and urban management.

Last April 7, 2025, the PhilDev Foundation, in partnership with Google Philippines, hosted an office tour and mentorship program for nine selected Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) students from the City of Malabon University (CMU). This initiative is part of SHE++, a PhilDev Foundation program aimed at empowering young women to pursue careers in technology.

The students were welcomed into the vibrant Google Philippines office, where they experienced a fireside chat with accomplished women professionals from the tech industry. These conversations offered valuable insights into the guestsโ€™ career journeys, challenges, and triumphsโ€”providing inspiration and real-world perspective to the aspiring tech professionals.

In addition to the chat, the students took part in mentorship sessions, allowing them to engage one-on-one and in small groups with industry mentors. These sessions provided practical advice, guidance on navigating a tech career, and encouragement for the next steps in their academic and professional paths.

To cap off the experience, the students were given a guided office tour, offering a firsthand glimpse into Googleโ€™s innovative and inclusive work environmentโ€”an experience that left many of them motivated to pursue similar opportunities in the future.

This collaboration between PhilDev and Google is a testament to the importance of supporting women in tech, ensuring they are equipped with the tools, network, and inspiration needed to thrive in the industry.

The following are the students who participated in the tour and mentoship:
1. Kate Lavayne Marcos 6. Eloisa Ann Dado
2. Joyce Monterde 7. Janiela Rose Galero
3. Athena Paterno 8. Ramshalem Nable
4. Elisha Faith Balaston 9. Robelyn Leyson
5. Janet Teodora Dizon

The She++ Program and CMU culminated in a successful MOU Signing and Closing Ceremony held at CMU Hall on March 28, 2025.

The event celebrated the accomplishments of the BSIT 3rd-year female students who completed the program, marking a significant step in empowering women within the technology sector. The ceremony was graced by the presence of VPAA Dr. Willam D.C. Enrique, Engr. Jed Concepcion, and Dr. Enrico Chavez, Program Chair of CCS, underscoring the university's strong commitment to the program's goals. A key component of the She++ Program was a comprehensive technopreneurship workshop. This practical training provided students with essential business development and entrepreneurial skills, complementing their technical expertise and empowering them to explore entrepreneurial careers in technology.

The collaborative efforts of CMU and its partners, as evidenced by the presence of key figures at the MOU signing, demonstrate a strong commitment to promoting women's contributions to the technology industry and fostering a more inclusive and innovative environment.
