We are thrilled to conclude our school year (SY) and share the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) checklist results of our learners.
One of the most pressing concerns we encountered at the beginning of the SY was the discovery that 40% of our learners had delayed development. This means that many of the children who will begin their pre-kindergarten education at SSL still lack the expected skills and behaviors for their age.
Furthermore, 60% of our learners are delayed in the self-help domain, which includes tasks such as dressing, eating, and maintaining hygiene.
In the expressive domain, 40% of our incoming learners are also delayed, indicating that they may not be able to use appropriate language or ask suitable questions.
Additionally, 43% of our learners are delayed in the socio-emotional domain, which involves self-regulation and understanding social situations, leading to tantrums or frustration.
To address these concerns, we promptly presented the results to the parents and guardians. We ensured that they understand the significance of these numbers and the steps we can take to address them.
Our teachers and parents/guardians have committed to a collaborative and trusting partnership. They recognize that the development of our learners is a shared responsibility, involving teachers, parents/guardians, school administrators, and the community and environment in which the children grow.
After a year of continuous communication and feedback, we are confident that the partnership we have built with the parents and guardians has been a resounding success.
At the end of the SY, we have made remarkable progress in reducing the number of learners with delayed development. We have successfully decreased the percentage from 40% to 7%.
Similarly, we have reduced the self-help domain delay from 60% to 15%, the expressive domain delay from 40% to 11%, and the socio-emotional domain delay from 43% to 7%.
These achievements reflect the values and commitment of Salazar’s School of Learning, and we are filled with gratitude for the support and trust of our parents and guardians.
We would not have been able to accomplish this without their unwavering dedication and partnership. We express our deepest appreciation for their contributions.
May we continue to support our children until they grow up to be exceptional and compassionate members of our society.

🧠 1. Sensory at Motor Skills (Pandama at Galaw)
Gross motor (malalaking galaw):
Pag-gapang
Paglakad
Pag-akyat-baba
🗣 2. Language Development (Wika)
❤️ 3. Social at Emotional Skills
🎨 4. Play-Based Learning (Pagkatuto sa Pamamagitan ng Laro)
✅Sa edad 0–2, ang laro ang kanilang “trabaho.”
Mas mainam ang:
•Blocks
•Sensory play (tubig, buhangin, textured toys)
•Peek-a-boo
👂 5. Listening at Attention Skills
✅Responsive caregiving
✅Play
✅Interaction
✅Movement
____________
✅Narito ang age-by-age guide (0–2 years old) na simple, praktikal, at developmentally appropriate.
👶 0–6 Months
🧠 Development Focus:
Bonding at attachment
Sensory exploration
Head at body control
✅ Dapat Natututuhan:
Pagkilala sa boses ni mama/papa
Pagtitig at pag-focus sa mukha
Pag-ngiti (social smile)
Pag-angat ng ulo (tummy time)
Pagsunod sa tunog gamit ang mata
🎲 Mga Gawain:
Tummy time araw-araw
Kausapin habang pinapalitan ng diaper
Kumanta ng lullabies
Black-and-white contrast cards
Soft rattles
_____
👶 6–12 Months
🧠 Development Focus:
Pag-upo, paggapang, pagtayo
Babbling (ba-ba, da-da)
Object permanence
✅ Dapat Natututuhan:
Pagtugon sa pangalan
Simpleng utos (“Halika”, “Bigay mo”)
Pagturo gamit ang daliri
Paglipat ng laruan kamay-sa-kamay
Pagpapakita ng emosyon
🎲 Mga Gawain:
Peek-a-boo
Patong-patong na blocks
Board books na may malalaking larawan
Sensory play (iba’t ibang texture)
Simple action songs
____
👶 1–2 Years Old
🧠 Development Focus:
Paglalakad at pagtakbo
Pagsasalita ng 5–50+ words
Imitation (panggagaya)
Simple problem-solving
✅ Dapat Natututuhan:
Pagkilala sa basic body parts
Pag-follow ng 1-step instructions
Pagpapahayag ng gusto (“tubig”, “ayo”)
Pag-turn taking
Basic pretend play (kunwaring nagluluto)
🎲 Mga Gawain:
Shape sorters
Stacking cups
“A is for Apple” habang nagbabasa
Pagbilang ng hakbang
ABC song na masaya lang
_______________
❤️ Mahalagang Paalala
Ayon sa mga rekomendasyon ng American Academy of Pediatrics at World Health Organization:
✔ Mas mahalaga ang responsive caregiving
✔ Limitahan ang screen time (lalo na under 2 years old)
✔ Play at movement ang priority
✔ Quality time > Academic drills
🌱 Simple Rule
Bago ang ABC at 123, siguraduhing:
☝🏽Marunong makinig
☝🏽Marunong gumalaw
☝🏽Marunong makipag-interact
☝🏽Marunong mag-express
💯Kapag matibay ang foundation, mas madali at natural darating ang academic skills.
