When the Philippines is officially in a state of war, the flag is reversed, placing the red stripe on top and the blue stripe below. This unique way of signaling that the country is at war serves as a powerful symbol of the nation's readiness to defend it's freedom.

The Philippine flag was first unfurled on May 28, 1898, during the Battle of Alapan and was formally proclaimed as the national flag during the declaration of Philippine independence on June 12, 1898. Its colors and symbols each carry significant meanings: blue symbolizes peace, truth, and justice, while the red represents patriotism and valor. The white triangle stands for equality and fraternity, and the golden sun with its eight rays honors the first provinces that fought against colonial rule. The three stars symbolize the main island groups of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao—united as one nation under one flag.

As we celebrate Philippine Flag Days from May 28 to June 12, let us take this opportunity to honor the symbol that represents the heart and soul of our nation — the Philippine flag. 🫂

𝐄𝐢𝐝 𝐌𝐮𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐤! 🌙✨

𝗘𝗶𝗱 𝗮𝗹-𝗔𝗱𝗵𝗮 — 𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 “𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲” — is one of the two most important holidays celebrated by Muslims across the world.

It commemorates the story of the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), who showed complete obedience and devotion to God by willingly preparing to sacrifice his son. Before the sacrifice took place, God provided a lamb to offer in his son’s place instead.

In the Philippines, the holiday is officially called Eidul Adha. It is observed as a regular national holiday under Republic Act 9177. On this day, all schools and most businesses are closed, and eligible employees receive special holiday pay.

As we celebrate Eid al-Adha, may this sacred occasion inspire us to strengthen our faith, practice compassion, and extend kindness to others. This blessed day reminds us of the value of sacrifice, gratitude, and unity within our communities.

Simply, God loves each individual so deeply that He sent His Son, Jesus, to save humanity. Through this, everyone who believes in Him is promised eternal life instead of being separated from God.

This year’s celebration is extra meaningful, because it also lines up with the city’s 25th year as a city. In the Philippines, the National Museum of the Philippines actively joins the celebration every year. This sad event happened because of a big disagreement between Bonifacio’s group and the group led by Emilio Aguinaldo. Both sides wanted to lead the revolution, and their conflict grew worse over time.

Bonifacio and his brother Procopio were arrested and put on trial. Many people said the trial was unfair and biased. They were judged guilty of rebellion and betrayal, and sentenced to die. The order came from General Mariano Noriel, and was carried out by a group of soldiers led by Major Lázaro Macapagal. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗠𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝗡𝗮𝗴𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗴, 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝘂𝗺𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗸.

𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟭𝟳, 𝟭𝟵𝟭𝟴, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝘂𝗴 𝘂𝗽 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲. The remains were placed in a special container and given to the National Library of the Philippines to be kept safe. Today, Bonifacio is honored as a national hero of the country.
