Last Monday, March 16, 2026, a team of Grade 8 researchers named Jamie Villanueva, Athena Roman, Kiel Estrella, Cian Cruz, and Xian Soliman presented their project in the Malabon Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office. Their project is titled โRising Waters, Rising Preparedness: A Community-Based Arduino Flood Control and Gauging System.โ Their project aims to alert people about the roads that they are going to be passing by and lessen the flood on the streets.
As said, this Science Investigatory Project aids to alert people about the roads or areas that are flooded through the use of LED lights and probes. When the water reaches a certain level, the probe detects the height of the water and sends an alert to the LED lights and displays a color to alert the people. There are three colors of the LED lights: Green is PATV, meaning the road is passable to all. Yellow is NPLV, meaning that light vehicles canโt pass. The final one is the red, representing NPAV meaning all types of vehicles canโt pass because of the flood.
Additionally, the water pump activates when the road is not passable to all vehicles (NPAV) so that the water on the streets will lessenโmaking those roads passable and lessening the damages in infrastructure and vehicles. After this, the water sucked up by the water pump will be transported to a reservoir where the water is recycled and can be used for other necessities like irrigation and flushing.
This project is truly inspiring and reflects the dedication of ICAMians to help our environment, especially our people. Congratulations to the Grade 8 Science Investigatory Team and their proud and supportive coaches, Ms. Josephine G. Nepomuceno and Mr. John Paolo Tampos.

The story of salvation began with the courage of a woman. Through the Immaculate Conception, Mary became a symbol of purity, faith, and strength that continues to inspire generations.
Today, women carry that same spirit as leaders, builders of communities, and voices of change. This International Womenโs Day, The Crown celebrates the enduring strength and grace of women who shape the world with faith and courage. ๐๐ค
Happy international womenโs day!

The 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution honors a pivotal moment in Philippine history, when millions of Filipinos peacefully took to Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) from February 22 to 25, 1986, to demand an end to authoritarian rule and restore democratic governance. This historic fourโday uprising ended more than two decades of dictatorship and led to the departure of President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., symbolizing the power of nonviolent collective action.
According to reports, the People Power Revolution is celebrated not for the political names often highlighted in history lessons, but for the ordinary people whose unity and courage made change possible. Students, workers, families, religious communities, and defecting members of the military came together, showing that the will of the people can outweigh the influence of those in power.
Recent discussions around the holiday reflect debates over how the anniversary should be recognized, but historians and civic groups agree that the eventโs significance remains rooted in the peopleโs collective action. Even if the official public holiday status changes, the lesson stands: those who stand for what is right are more powerful than those who simply hold office or power.
