The emails I can't send... π§
This week's Professional Ethics class dove into Workplace Communication Essentials, led by our valued industry partner, Optum Philippines, through the insightful session facilitated by Ms. Reese Pasia.
Students learned about communication etiquette across various workplace channels, particularly email and professional messaging. The session covered proper workplace behavior, common communication mistakes, how ineffective communication can impact teams and productivity, and the mindset needed to communicate professionally and effectively in the workplace.
Beyond the discussion, Optum also shared their internship program following the success of Batch 1 and Batch 2, where over 50% of APC interns from Batch 2 were absorbed into the company after their internship. To give students a firsthand perspective, Optum also brought along former APC interns who are now full-time employees. They shared their experiences, challenges, lessons learned, and how their internship journey helped shape their professional growth.
As we prepare for Batch 3, Optum took the opportunity to network with students, answer questions, and gauge interest among potential internship candidates from our pre-internship classes.
It was truly a session filled with learning, inspiration, and real-world insights. Seeing former students return, this time as professionals representing the very company where they once interned, was a genuine full-circle moment and a reminder of the opportunities that await those willing to learn, grow, and communicate effectively. π
