| Ilocos stakeholders upskill in strategic event planning to boost tourism
By Anthony Ian Reyes
Tourism stakeholders throughout the Ilocos Region enhanced their capabilities in strategic event planning through the Department of Tourism’s (DOT) Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) 102 training, equipping them with skills to attract and manage high-value MICE events that can stimulate local tourism and economic growth.
The two-day capacity-building program is part of the DOT’s efforts to develop the region’s competitiveness as a MICE destination by enhancing the technical and professional competencies of tourism stakeholders.
Through the training, participants gained practical knowledge in event planning, operations, marketing, logistics, partnership building, and bid preparation—key components for securing business events that generate tourism spending and investment opportunities.
DOT Ilocos Region Assistant Regional Director Evangeline M. Dadat said the training provides participants with access to industry experts while enabling them to build networks and acquire competencies needed in the MICE sector.
