We often look to the past to find examples of bravery, but if you look closely at the people around you, you’ll see that same spirit alive today. Greatness is a legacy passed down to us, but valor is a choice we make every morning, it’s in the resilience of our community and the courage to build something better for the next generation.
Today, we honor the heroes of our past by building a braver future today. Let’s continue to push boundaries, support one another, and lead with heart in all that we do.

Even major news networks can make the same grammar mistake.
Both GMA and ABS-CBN used “less” instead of “fewer” in their headlines. This is not unusual. Even professional writers make this error because in everyday conversation, “less” is often used for almost everything.
But in standard English, there is a clear rule.
👉 Use “fewer” for countable nouns
👉 Use “less” for uncountable nouns
Let’s break it down using familiar Filipino examples:
✅ Fewer jeepneys (because you can count them: 1, 2, 3…)
❌ Less jeepneys
✅ Less traffic (because you cannot count traffic as individual units)
❌ Fewer traffic
✅ Fewer passengers
✅ Less fuel
A simple rule to remember:
If you can count it, use “fewer.” If you cannot, use “less.”
Why do people still get this wrong?
Because spoken English tends to simplify rules. Over time, “less” became more commonly used, even when it is technically incorrect. However, in professional writing, especially in journalism, accuracy still matters.
Now your turn:
Can you give one sentence using fewer and one using less?
