Registration for the Manila Kendo Club Introduction to Kendo Course is now open! Learn the Way of the Sword through our beginners program this April 11 and 18, 2026, 4-6pm at the YMCA of Makati.

Take advantage of our early bird rate of P2,000 (until March 28, 2026). Regular rate of P2,500 applies from March 29 to April 11, 2026. The course fee covers the two sessions (2 hours each) and use of the shinai (bamboo sword) for the course duration.

Experience the Japanese martial art of Kendo through our 2-day course designed for beginners. Classes are on October 18 and 25, 2025 (Saturdays), 4-6pm at the YMCA of Makati, Inc.

Congratulations to Jojo Isorena-sensei and Jay Castillejo for passing their respective dan examinations held on the weekend of The 21st Hong Kong Asian Open Kendo Championships organized by the 中國香港劍道協會 The Kendo Association of Hong Kong, China.

Isorena-sensei is now 5 Dan while Castillejo is now 2 Dan.

The Manila Kendo Club took part of "Kizuna Fest: A Window Into Japanese Culture" by the Thomasian Nihon Kyoukai, where Luis Isorena Sensei (4 Dan) talked about the history of kendo and how the club pioneered the martial art in the Philippines.

Members of the club joined Luis Sensei as they demonstrated how kendo is practiced – from etiquette, kata (forms), up to the various styles of fighting.
