Sa araw na ito noong 1986, tatlumpu’t siyam na taon na ang nakalipas, milyon-milyong Pilipino ang nagtipon sa EDSA upang labanan ang rehime ni dating pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Sr., at tuluyan nang wakasan ang pang-aapi nito. Sa panahong ito, muling nabuhay ang demokrasya, at ipinamalas ang totoong lakas ng mamamayang nagkakaisa.

Ngayon, alalahanin natin ang makasaysayang EDSA People Power Revolution—isang makabulubang pakikibaka na patuloy na binubura sa ating kasaysayan at pinapawalang-bisa. Bagama’t pilit itong ibinabalot sa anino ng paglimot, ang alab nito ay patuloy na mangingibabaw sa kahit anong kadiliman.

Hindi lamang ito isang alaala, kundi isang makapangyarihang paalala—na hindi dapat kinakalimutan ang kahalagahan ng kalayaan, pagkakaisa, at katotohanan. Sa bawat pagsubok na ating kinakaharap sa lipunan, nawa’y maging paalala ang kanilang sakripisyo na sa bawat laban natin, hindi tayo nag-iisa.

Huwag na huwag hayaang maglaho at mabura ang ating kasaysayan. Dahil sa bawat pag-alala, nabubuo ang isang malaya na kinabuksan.
