Mentoring the Mentors Program

Our program seeks to serve the Public School System and Teacher Education Institutions (TEI)s by focusing on MENTORING the "new" methodology. Coaching and mentoring is seen as the more effective method of helping and supporting people to learn more effectively. egional Directors Superintendents, Principals, teachers of the Public School System, as well as the faculty of Teacher Education Institutes (TEIs), see new possibilities of becoming effective agents of change through a program that will develop their skills in mentoring, open their hearts and broaden their perspectives. They envision an education for social transformation that will develop teachers, who in turn, will influence their students to become better citizens of tomorrow. Based on the principle " It is better caught than taught", (- Sis. Carmen Reyes, Religious of Assumption in her talk on the Role of Educators) the Mentoring the Mentors Program brings back the nurturing dimension of teaching where a deeper and broader value is anchored on the need for the teacher to "walk the talk"; to be a role model for the young. It challenges the teacher to seek within him/ herself the values of honesty, integrity, discipline, ethics, respect for the law and rights of others - modicums of good behavior.
