Mapúa Strengthens International Nursing Education Through Faculty Mobility in Indonesia

From December 8–12, 2025, Dr. Emmillie Joy Mejia, Dean of the School of Nursing recently joined an international faculty mobility program at Universitas Esa Unggul (UEU), Indonesia to strengthen global collaboration in nursing education. The visit focused on sharing best practices and promoting the importance of therapeutic communication in patient care.

One of the highlights was a Masterclass and Lecture on Therapeutic Communication, which taught nursing students and faculty how empathy, active listening, and cultural understanding improve nurse–patient relationships and health outcomes. These sessions also explored practical strategies for mental health and community-based care.

Participants visited Soeharto Heerdjan Hospital, gaining insights into mental health services and interdisciplinary teamwork, and PT Wishan Global Medika, where they learned about home care practices that emphasize family involvement and holistic care.

This program not only strengthened academic partnerships but also showcased how communication and cultural exchange prepare nurses to deliver compassionate, ethical, and effective care worldwide.
