A study conducted by the team of Dr. Joemer Maravilla, adjunct faculty of the FEU Institute of Health Sciences and Nursing at Far Eastern University Manila, explores the challenges faced by public health workers, universities, and health facilities in delivering non-COVID-19 health services after the initial pandemic wave. Key findings highlight service disruptions due to patient hesitancy, workforce shortages, and mental health strain among health workers.
Despite these challenges, innovative solutions like telehealth and social media were adopted. However, issues like digital equity and workforce wellbeing remain pressing concerns.
The study emphasizes the need for strong partnerships with higher education institutions to help local health systems recover and build resilience for the future.

[SAVE THE DATE!] ๐ EXPLORING CAMPUS REALITIES: Insights on Civic Engagement from the 2024 College Experience Survey

The FEU Public Policy Center (FPPC), supported by The Asia Foundation's YouthLed PH Program, is expanding the College Experience Survey (CES) to better evaluate the impact of the countryโs tertiary education system on student development. The CES, a longstanding initiative with over 37,910 student responses, provides crucial insights into traits, opinions, school satisfaction, career motivation, and other key aspects of student life.
This expansion, aligned with YouthLed's objectives, aims to enhance our understanding of civic engagement among Filipino youth and the broader impacts of higher education. By widening the respondent base, the CES will build a more comprehensive database and facilitate the broader dissemination of findings, fostering dialogue and collaboration in advancing civic education and youth participation in democratic governance.
The CES 2024 Public Forum will bring together partner schools and key stakeholders to tie together key insights on the college experience and civic participation of higher education students in the Philippines. Taking advantage of their respective networks, the FPPC and YouthLed will invite key stakeholders from the education, business, government, and civil society sectors to a presentation of key findings, panel reaction from thought leaders, and open forum.
