DEAR MHS. In celebration of the National Reading Month and the 91st National Book Week, Makati High School students and teachers observed Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) during their Filipino and English classes.

The annual 15-minute DEAR encouraged learners to set aside all distractions around them and pick up one book of interest, allowing them to embrace the joy of reading and unlock the power of their imagination.

𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗥 𝗧𝗢𝗗𝗔𝗬. Makati High School (MHS) hosted a benchmarking activity between the Schools Division Offices of Lanao del Norte and Makati City today, Nov. 26.

The activity provided the educational leaders, program implementers, and personnel of SDO Lanao del Norte with exposure to the established programs, systems, and innovations of SDO Makati.

Following the program at the Ruben H. Santos (RHS) Hall, delegates from SDO Lanao del Norte toured the school’s laboratories and specialized classrooms.

They concluded their tour by interacting with booths showcasing the diverse initiatives, programs, and projects implemented by MHS and SDO Makati.

On October 10, the Makati High School-Special Program in Foreign Language (MHS-SPFL) Mandarin students hosted a vibrant Mid-Autumn Festival celebration, sharing their talent and the rich fusion of Filipino-Chinese cuisine and culture at the Audiovisual Room (AVR).

Chinese Mandarin teachers Antonina Canceran and John Carlo Manalo organized the main celebration with SPFL students from grades 7 to 10. The event served as a showcase of Chinese culture and heritage, with students wearing traditional Chinese clothes, including Hanfu, Cheongsam, and Tang suits.

To show solidarity with the theme, attendees—including faculty and other students—were dressed in shirts colored red, a symbol of celebration and prosperity. The students also showcased their talents through dancing and acting performances.

While highlighting the SPFL-Mandarin’s achievements over the past three years, Teacher Canceran underscored the program's enduring success, reminding the learners that "Learning languages has no limitations; it's a new skill."

To complete the festivity, students and teachers imitated the traditional Mooncake Festival celebration by sharing a table of authentic Filipino-Chinese delicacies.

The celebration concluded with a photo opportunity, inviting all attendees to take snaps with the SPFL students, teachers, and performers.

Prior to this day, MHS SPFL-Mandarin built excitement by setting up interactive booths in their classroom to immerse non-SPFL students and teachers in Chinese culture. Among the most visited booths were Calligraphy, Basic Mandarin, and the Photo booth.

During this period, schools shall implement Alternative Delivery Modalities (ADM), either sycnhronous or asychronous.

Private schools are highly encouraged to observe these measures, DepEd NCR added.
