As the school year comes to a close, UMak SOL Debate and Moot Court Society proudly celebrates its victories, growth, and milestones with the people who have continuously supported our journey.

| The UMAK Debate and Moot Court Society’s 2nd General Assembly has officially crossed the starting line! 🏃‍♀️✨

Held last April 11, 2026, from 5:00–8:00 PM at the Law Center, this year’s General Assembly brought together our members for an evening of connection, collaboration, and renewed commitment to the DebSoc's goals.

The assembly set the pace for the exciting journey ahead. From meaningful discussions and organizational updates to committee assignments and plans for the year, DebSoc members geared up to run strong as one team.

We sincerely thank the UMak School of Law community, Dean Jay Layug, Assoc. Dean Ton Parreno, Atty. Mika Cuacoyes, DebSoc adviser, Ms. Mia, Sir Mark, Sir Daniel, our members, and everyone who continues to support the DebSoc's vision and mission.

| UMak Debaters Score Big at the

UMak SOL Debate and Moot Court Society delivered another commanding performance at the Ikalimang Talastasan: The Vera Cup, held on 28 February 2026, securing top speaker placements and a semifinal finish in a field of competitive law schools.

Team JAS powered through the preliminary rounds to finish as Semi-Finalist. Leading the charge was Janelle Manalo (1B), who bagged Top 2 Overall Best Speaker award, followed by Sam Unabia (1B), placing Top 7 Best Speaker, and Angel Perjes (1A), who also turned in a standout performance!

With victories across both debating and mooting, UMak DebSoc continues to build momentum! We would like to thank the UMak School of Law administration and community for their continued support.

Onward to more podiums, more finals, and more history. 💪🔥

Warm congratulations to the University of Makati School of Law Debate and Moot Court Society (UMak Law DebSoc) for their impressive showing in the 2026 Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, held on February 25–27, 2026 at the University of Santo Tomas, Manila.

UMak School of Law team placed 8th overall in the preliminary rounds (overall raw score) and 15th in the final overall team ranking. The Team also secured 18th place in the final memorial ranking. UMak’s oralists also earned notable individual recognitions, with Aira Juanson and Blesselda Girado both placing 15th Overall Best Oralists, Kyla Dianne Hernandez ranking 21st Best Oralist, and Franz Jasper Mapa placing 41st Best Oralist.

The Jessup Moot Court Competition is widely regarded as the largest and most prestigious public international law moot court competition in the world, drawing thousands of law students globally each year.

These achievements was made made possible with the support and guidance of Atty. Aislyn Janelle L. Yao, Mr. Benhur Queqquegan, Mr. Jakkim Befinosa, Mr. Joshua Aquiler, Mr. John Stephen Ilao, Ms. Nixie Ivan Anuat, and Mr. Charleton Royce Yu along with the unwavering encouragement of the UMak School of Law administration and community. Your mentorship and unwavering support are the backbone of this triumph.
