What happens when you take a masterpiece and view it through a 21st-century lens?
Our Grade 11 students from HUMSS251, STEM251, STEM252, STEM254, and STEM256 recently took on the challenge of "Appropriation" in their Contemporary Philippine Arts from the Regions classes. Under the guidance of faculty-in-charge Mr. Bernard Temporosa, this exhibit proves that art is a living dialogue between history and the present day.
As Mr. Temporosa explains, the goal was to move beyond simple replication:

Inspired by masters like Juan Luna, our students "borrowed" the essence of the iconic Spoliarium to create their own adaptations. The exhibit showcases:
-Social Commentaries: Reimagined works that tackle modern-day corruption and history.
-Multimedia Integration: A creative blend of traditional art, digital animations, and advocacy campaigns.
-The Narrative Folders: For those who want to dive deeper, each piece includes a dedicated folder where students explain their research and the story behind their version.
This exhibit is a testament to "real learning". By merging historical context with critical thinking, our students are not just studying cultureโthey are actively participating in it. We are incredibly proud of how these STEM and HUMSS students have applied their creativity to reflect the patterns of our culture and the pulse of our nation.
