𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗢𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿: 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱

The Student Judicial Council (SJC) has formally issued its decision regarding the complaint filed on January 19, 2026 concerning the alleged misuse of council funds.

Following the investigation and formal hearing of the case, the Court found no sufficient evidence to support the allegation of malversation of funds. However, the Respondent was found GUILTY of Negligence of Duty in relation to responsibilities under the Office of Finance and Review (OFAR), in violation of relevant provisions of the University Student Handbook, the 2019 Amended Constitution and By-Laws, and the SJC Rules of Court.

The Council has recommended the appropriate actions in accordance with its findings. The complete Notice of Ruling and full report of the decision will be released to ensure transparency and proper documentation of the proceedings.

𝗚𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹’𝘀 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗨𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝘂𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀

The Rules of Court serve as the official framework guiding all proceedings of the Student Judicial Council. These rules ensure that every process is conducted with fairness, order, and due process, upholding the principles of justice, accountability, and integrity within the student body.

All students of the University of Makati are encouraged to read these Rules of Court to better understand their rights, responsibilities, and the procedures followed in student judicial proceedings.

𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗢𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿: 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗱

The hearing was formally concluded on February 12. The session provided all parties the opportunity to present their statements and evidence in accordance with proper procedure.

Following this, the Student Judicial Council (SJC) has formally reached a decision and is currently finalizing the official Notice of Ruling. The complete report, containing the Council’s decision, will be posted to ensure clarity and transparency.

The SJC assures the community that the Notice of Ruling will be released accordingly.

𝗚𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹’𝘀 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲: 𝗦𝗝𝗖 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱

The Student Judicial Council (SJC) serves as the student government’s constitutional court. Guided by the Rules of Court and the 2019 Amended Constitution and By-Laws, the SJC ensures that disputes and complaints are resolved with fairness, neutrality, and due process.

𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗢𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿: 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴

The Student Judicial Council (SJC) announces that the preliminary conference concluded on Wednesday, February 4. This step allowed the parties to discuss initial matters and prepare for the formal hearing.

In line with this, the hearing is set to commence on Thursday, February 12. Official notices have been duly issued to the concerned parties to ensure formal communication, transparency, and the observance of due process throughout all proceedings.

Once the Court has reached a resolution, the SJC assures its prompt release within the period prescribed under the rules.

The Student Judicial Council (SJC) formally declares that the investigation process has been concluded.

Pursuant to the applicable rules and procedures, a Notice to Respondent and a Notice of Preliminary Conference have been duly issued and served upon the parties concerned.

The case shall proceed to the next stage of the proceedings in accordance with the governing rules, and the parties shall be notified of further developments through the proper channels.

The Student Judicial Council (SJC) acknowledges receipt of the relevant documents, earlier entrusted to the University Student Council, for the current investigation.

The council recommends the temporary relief from official duties of the Office of Finance and Review Committee and the Audit and Property Custodian Committee, to be effected by the Office of the Student Regent, pending resolution of the investigation.

𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗢𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿: 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗹𝘆 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀

Built in the principles of transparency, accountability, and integrity, the Student Judicial Council affirms the importance of public Transparency Reports among all University Student Organizations.

In line with the mandate to uphold institutional integrity and due process, we strongly encourage all university student organizations to make these reports public and accessible. Students have the right to review how organizational funds are used, and assess whether financial statements and supporting receipts are accurate and consistent.

The Student Judicial Council remains with the student body at every step of the way. Committed to due process and fairness throughout all proceedings, our priority remains to ensure that students are protected and aware of their rights.

𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝟬𝟬𝟭

In light of the current issues circulating, the SJC recognizes the seriousness of the matter and affirms its commitment to due process, transparency, and accountability to the student body.

The Student Judicial Council has conducted a meeting with the University Student Council and Student Congress to address allegations regarding the malversation of council funds. The meeting focused on reviewing initial findings, discussing the concerns raised.

Rest assured that the SJC is now investigating the matter further and ensuring that due process will be upheld throughout all proceedings. We assure that these concerns will be taken in accordance with university policies and will take appropriate action based on our findings.

𝙐𝙈𝙖𝙠 𝙎𝙏𝙐𝘿𝙀𝙉𝙏 𝙅𝙐𝘿𝙄𝘾𝙄𝘼𝙇 𝘾𝙊𝙐𝙉𝘾𝙄𝙇 (𝙎𝙅𝘾) 𝙏𝘼𝙆𝙀𝙎 𝘿𝙀𝘾𝙄𝙎𝙄𝙑𝙀 𝘼𝘾𝙏𝙄𝙊𝙉 𝙊𝙉 𝙋𝙇𝙀𝘽𝙄𝙎𝘾𝙄𝙏𝙀 𝙋𝙊𝙇𝙄𝘾𝙔

The Student Judicial Council sincerely apologizes for the unintended distress caused by the recent policy on Plebiscite participation. After careful review and student feedback, the Student Judicial Council has revoked the policy linking plebiscite participation to academic and service access. While our goal was to encourage civic engagement, we acknowledge the unintended consequences and are taking full responsibility. This marks a turning point—we're shifting toward more effective, student-centered strategies that uphold both participation and personal choice.
