Since its formation in 1980, INTERCARGO has served as the collective voice of the dry bulk shipping industry, advocating for safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible sea transport. Today, it represents shipowners and operators whose vessels carry the worldโs essential commodities โ the very building blocks of everyday life.
We are pleased to share that Captain Rohit Banta, Director, Synergy Marine Pte Ltd, has been appointed to the Executive Committee of INTERCARGO. ๐
This appointment reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the link between operational excellence and human-centred sustainability โ values that lie at the heart of both INTERCARGO and Synergy.
In Captain Bantaโs own words:
๐ฃ๏ธ โGet in the human โ because the touchstone of true sustainability will always be people. Technology and regulation can guide us, but it is empathy, accountability, and shared purpose that truly sustain progress.โ
At Synergy Marine Group, we view this as another opportunity to contribute constructively to global maritime dialogue โ listening, learning, and helping shape a more sustainable and resilient future for the maritime and dry bulk community. ๐

We are very happy to say that on 29 November Synergy Marine Group had the pleasure of receiving two major honours at the Informa Marine Fuels 360 Awards in Singapore.
The Group itself took the Ship Manager of the Year Award for 2023, and soon afterwards, as here pictured, Group Founder and Executive Chairman Captain Rajesh Unni stepped onto the stage to receive the inaugural Informa Marine Fuels 360 annual Lifetime Achievement Award.
Described as โa luminary in the maritime sector [whose] commitment to innovation and sustainability has reshaped our industryโ, Captain Unni was grateful and humbled to receive this prestigious Award.
Having first thanked the judges, Captain Unniโs characteristically modest acceptance speech then spotlighted family, friends and (for him, the same thing) Group colleagues as playing a very major role in all that has been achieved, before echoing the nature and location of the Award with heartfelt thanks to Singapore itself for repaying his own early enterprise with generous and ample opportunity.

Having settled into our new premises in Copenhagen, we hosted a get-together at Kay Fiskers Plads 10 on 22nd June. It was a great opportunity to connect with established and also new customers and friends, and to celebrate the milestones we have reached and ponder the further ones we have set. We extend our warmest gratitude to everyone who attended and made it such a memorable and enjoyable gathering.
Tommy Thomassen, our Chief Operating Officer (Tankers), outlined our growing contribution to the local shipping community and our very considerable efforts in decarbonisation and digitalisation. Tommy firmly believes that as Technical Managers we will have a pivotal role in supporting owners and many other stakeholders as they tackle these matters within an ever more challenging regulatory framework.
Our founder & CEO Capt. Rajesh Unni shared some insights concerning the Mauna Dhwani Foundation and its mission to empower women in what are still marginalised communities. With a holistic methodology, the Foundation focuses on rehabilitation and integration into mainstream society and reminds us of the challenges faced by individuals, villages and entire communities where access to basic necessities, education & a regular income are sadly still aspirational goals.
We must always remember that there are many who would regard having a light bulb as a luxury, which is a humbling reality that reinforces our commitment to making a positive & altruistic impact in our daily work.
Once again, sincerest thanks to all who contributed to the success of this event - guests, hosts, organisers, arrangers, caterers and all. Your support & engagement are invaluable, and let us continue to strive for excellence and always make a difference to the business lives of those we serve & to the daily lives of those we are bound and determined to help.
If you have any suggestions for future Synergy events or initiatives please share them, and we wish you all a happy, safe & continuing fulfilling journey in the global small world that is shipping.
