What happens when learning meets service in healthcare?

Medical students from the University of the Philippines were given a unique opportunity to Shadow a Chiropractor where learning went beyond observation.

Through the Hands for Vitality Mission, they didn’t just study the science of chiropractic—they witnessed it in action. From assessing patients to observing precise adjustments, they saw how function-focused, non-pharmacologic care can help address real musculoskeletal concerns.

More importantly, they experienced how chiropractic care can be a powerful tool in giving back to the community—providing quality, patient-centered care to our partner community in Pasig.

Be part of experiences that shape how you see healthcare.
Stay tuned for our next Shadow a Chiropractor session.

What if you could assess the body beyond what you see using function, not just symptoms?

At CICS, students took part in an Applied Kinesiology workshop with Dr. Nicole Ang, adding a powerful tool to their clinical skillset.

Through hands-on learning, they explored how muscle testing can help identify imbalances, assess function, and guide more precise chiropractic care.

Because becoming a chiropractor isn’t just about performing adjustments—it’s about understanding when, where, and how the body needs support.

Workshops like this equip future chiropractors in the Philippines with deeper clinical reasoning, sharper assessment skills, and more patient-centered approaches.

What does the future of chiropractic education in the Philippines look like?

International experts believe the country is at a very important moment.

During his visit to CICS, Dr. Henrik Wulff Christensen, DC, MD, PhD (Denmark) shared that the Philippines is at the beginning of building a strong chiropractic education system — and the opportunity ahead is enormous.

One of the biggest strengths he highlighted is CICS’s growing global network, with partnerships and relationships with chiropractic institutions in Australia, Malaysia, and Canada.

These international collaborations, along with stronger partnerships with university hospitals in the Philippines, can create a tremendous push for even better chiropractic education in the country.

Because building a profession doesn’t happen alone.
It grows through global collaboration, shared knowledge, and strong healthcare partnerships.

CICS is proud to be part of building the future of chiropractic education in the Philippines.

Students from the UP College of Medicine recently had the opportunity to shadow .ph faculty member , gaining firsthand exposure to how chiropractic adjustments are performed and how deeply patient-centered care is practiced in a real clinical setting.

During their visit, they witnessed the science behind each adjustment, the importance of anatomy and clinical reasoning, and how chiropractic care goes beyond technique to focus on restoring function, movement, and overall well-being.

Their reflections say it best:
“It’s not just about cracking sounds, it’s about restoring function.”
“Chiropractic focuses on functional care that modern medicine sometimes overlooks.”
“Seeing it firsthand completely changed my perspective.”

Experiences like this help future physicians appreciate the value of integrative, collaborative healthcare, opening doors to better patient outcomes through informed choice and understanding.

CICS students continue their journey toward mastering Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) with Doc Axel Jeanpierre, advancing through Categories I, II, and III.

Progressive training like this strengthens clinical reasoning, hands-on skill, and confidence — essential foundations for future chiropractors delivering holistic, patient-centered care.

09/01/2026

Our CICS students recently completed an intensive 2-day Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) Workshop with renowned chiropractor and Certified SOT Craniopath, Dr. Jason Scoppa, DC, CSCP, CCSP, PAK.

Dr. Scoppa is known for his specialized approach that emphasizes neurologic integration, improved proprioception, and restoring balance to the nervous system. His work prioritizes structural integrity, symmetry, and optimal function, and he is widely sought after for managing complex cases involving TMJ disorders, headaches, facial and neck pain, pediatric cranial care, sports injuries, and performance optimization.

During the workshop, students received firsthand, hands-on training in SOT principles and applications, deepening their understanding of the pelvic, spinal, and cranial relationship in patient care. Learning SOT is essential for future chiropractors, as it equips them with precise, gentle, and neurologically focused techniques that support holistic, non-invasive treatment.

At Camara Institute for Chiropractic Sciences, we ensure our students are guided by international experts—preparing them to deliver advanced chiropractic care with confidence and purpose.

Ebbets, DC. His expertise enriches our students’ learning and strengthens the global caliber of education at CICS.

This Christmas season, our CICS students are reminded that the greatest gift is the ability to help others. 🎄

Through service, compassion, and hands-on care, they experienced the true spirit of giving — sharing their skills, time, and heart to bring comfort, healing, and hope to those in need.

As they reflect on these moments, they carry forward a deeper purpose: to serve, to heal, and to make chiropractic care more accessible to every Filipino community.

From all of us at Camara Institute for Chiropractic Sciences and Hands for VItality, may this season inspire kindness, gratitude, and service to others. ✨

Fifteen years ago, in 2010, I first stepped onto the IMU University campus while their chiropractic program was being established by Dr. Michael Haneline—a professor from my alma mater, Palmer West.

It’s incredible to see how far the program has come. Today, 708 graduates have helped seed the growth of chiropractic across Malaysia and the region—serving communities, elevating care, and carrying the profession forward.

At CICS, we are honored to be one of IMU’s educational partners. Each year, nearly 60 IMU students join us for their clinical externship and community health immersion. As IMU’s Vice Chancellor and CEO Professor Emerita Dr Asma Ismail shared

“This collaboration has created better human beings.”
“We acknowledge the Camara Chiropractic Institute for allowing our students to engage in global communities and witness the need for Chiropractic and Traditional Medicine.”

During this visit, we strengthened the pathway for future generations of practitioners by:

1️⃣ Securing student mobility programs so CICS students can spend time learning at IMU.
2️⃣ Beginning collaborative research discussions.
3️⃣ Exploring future academic partnerships that will shape the next chapter of chiropractic education in Asia.

IMU prepared a truly outstanding one-day academic program—highlighting how TCIM and Chiropractic can be integrated into care for complex cases: cancer support, brain health, pediatrics, athletics, and even animal chiropractic.

It was a privilege to witness this historic milestone and to celebrate it with our colleagues and friends at IMU. From the Philippines, our heartfelt congratulations.

The future of chiropractic in the region is bright—and we’re honored to continue guiding, collaborating, and building it together. 🇵🇭🇲🇾
