A Filipino librarian has created this online tool to generate Cutter author numbers based on the Cutter-Sanborn Three-Figure Author Table. Feel free to share and use it for cataloging. How to use: Just input the author's surname on the Author Last Name field and click "Generate Record" or create a call number from the data you provided.

Here are some libraries and organizations that provide FREE and downloadable Filipino eBooks. See comment below for the links.

I noticed that many free "online libraries" that were compiled or created during the pandemic are sadly inaccessible now. I feel like organizations and libraries who create digital library initiatives should plan for longevity and in some cases, the project will stop if the person involved or those maintaining it are no longer with the project or have stopped working in the organization.

Aklatang Balmaseda is a special library that responds to the mandate of the KWF for the enrichment and preservation of Filipino and other languages of the Philippines. It is named after the former director of the Institute of National Language (INL), now the KWF, from 1938 to 1947, Julian Cruz Balmaseda, in recognition of his contributions and achievements in the field.

It has over 5,000 printed collections, including the Balmaseda Collection, Villanueva Collection, the Aklatang Bayan, References, and others. More than 700 e-books can also be accessed online. Please follow the instructions on the website on how to access.

It is located at 2/F Watson Building, 1610 JP Laurel St, Brgy. 640, Malacañang Complex, San Miguel, 1005 Manila. Visits and research can be conducted from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Ngayong Abril, ipinagdiriwang natin ang Pambansang Buwan ng Panitikan na may temang: “𝑩𝒆𝒌𝒆̈𝒕 𝑷𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒌𝒂𝒏: 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒂 𝒔𝒂 𝑲𝒂𝒕𝒘𝒊𝒓𝒂𝒏 𝒂𝒕 𝑲𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒂𝒔𝒂𝒏!”

Sama-sama nating payabungin ang mga kuwento at pamanang nagbibigay-boses sa ating kultura't kasaysayan. Kaisa ang National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) at Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF), inaanyayahan namin ang lahat na lumahok sa mga kaganapan sa iba’t ibang dako ng bansa upang panatilihing buhay at nagniningas ang ating sining.

Today, we celebrate Araw ng Pagbasa, reflecting deeply on the impact of reading in raising informed, empathetic, and empowered Filipino learners. This morning’s Nationwide Synchronized Reading invited students across the country to pause, open a book, and read together.

For our part, we will continue to make reading an accessible, meaningful, and enjoyable part of every Filipino's life through our growing network of storytelling spaces, book fairs, and other programs.

Let's all pick up a book, and imagine, question, and create!
