BRIEF HISTORY

The three University Laboratory High Schools were first known as Barrio Development Schools (BDS) located at Bibiclat, Aliaga, Nueva Ecija; Palusapis, Science City of Muñoz; Pini
li, San Jose City. They started in 1974 under Pres. Campos and financed jointly by the University and the Educational Development Project Implementing Task Force (EDPITAF). The BDS offered an occupational but terminal non-college preparatory curriculum. Due to the changing needs and aspirations of the people in the service areas and barangays, this terminal occupational concept of curriculum was changed top a college preparatory curriculum. It was approved by the CLSU Board Resolution No. 1870 s. 1979. The new curriculum (general secondary curriculum) was implemented on June 1, 1979, and the schools were then called CLSU Secondary Schools. Since the three schools were directly under the Technology Dissemination and Utilization System (TDUS) of the university’s Research and Development Center (RDC), the schools were renamed CLSU Outreach Schools (COS) to give more meanings not only in their function in instruction but as show windows and arms of the University in its extension and research work respectively. In June, 1983, the COS was transferred to College of Education to go with the dynamic changes of university’s thrust and programs that serve as laboratory schools of student teachers taking Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education and Bachelor of Secondary Education. 1. To serve as laboratory school and training ground of College of Education students taking-up education courses (BSAED and BSED).
2. To prepare the high school students for college and vocational education with the latter concentrating in agriculture and homemaking aspects.
3. To act as linkages between the university and the community in terms of technology transfer/ dissemination produced by the university.
