๐Ÿ“ฐ SPECIAL BULLETIN | CON-CON 2026

The Student Congress officially announces that applications for General Student Body Delegates to the Constitutional Convention (Con-Con) 2026 are now OPEN.

Anchored on Resolution No. 009 and Article XVIII of the 2019 USC Constitution and By-Laws, this initiative marks a significant step toward revising the student bodyโ€™s Constitutionโ€”ensuring it remains relevant, inclusive, and attuned to the present needs of the community.

The Convention will include selected representatives from the General Student Body chosen through a voluntary application process.

Due to limited venue capacity, the application form may close earlier than April 17 once the required number of delegates has been reached.

The UMak Student Congress has officially passed Resolution No. 009. This resolution formally expresses the intent to propose revisions for the USC 2019 Constitution by holding a Constitutional Convention (CON-CON).

As the primary law-making body, the Student Congress aims to ensure that the supreme law remains adaptive, inclusive, and reflective of the current needs of the UMak community. With this, the legislative body has taken the necessary step to initiate a Constitutional Convention to revise the current governing constitution of the university. This will update the USC Constitution, improve the policies, and address the current issues encompassing the studentry and student government.

This is a significant step in upholding the Student Congressโ€™s primary objective: to provide better service, greater transparency, and responsive leadership for students.

The series of public hearings regarding the alleged malversation of USC funds reached its conclusion last February 25, 2026. Following three sessions of deliberation, the Blue Ribbon Committee has officially released its Committee Report for public review.

Conducted strictly in aid of legislation, these proceedings focused on identifying policy gaps and gathering necessary information to refine student government policies. The goal remains to strengthen student policies and ensure the proper handling of student resources moving forward.

The Student Congress invites the UMak community to view the full report to understand the committeeโ€™s findings and the proposed legislative measures.
