Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU)-Mainit Campus held a successful National Womenโs Month Celebration on March 25, 2025, highlighting the importance of gender equality, womenโs empowerment, and legal literacy. The event, spearheaded by the Gender and Development (GAD) Office, was led by ๐๐ซ๐ฌ. ๐๐จ๐ง๐ ๐. ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐จ, ๐๐๐-๐๐๐ ๐

The program began with an invocation, followed by the singing of the National Anthem, Bagong Pilipinas Hymn, and the SNSU Hymn through an audio presentation. ๐๐ซ๐ฌ. ๐๐จ๐ง๐ ๐. ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐จ then delivered a warm welcome address, emphasizing the universityโs commitment to fostering an inclusive and safe environment for women in all sectors. To energize the participants, a Zumbabaje session was conducted by the GAD Officers, setting an enthusiastic tone for the dayโs events.
After the opening activities, ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐ ๐. ๐๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ฆ๐๐, ๐๐๐ ๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐ง๐ข๐ณ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ข๐๐๐ง๐ญ, provided an overview of Women's Day, discussing the importance of recognizing womenโs contributions in various fields. This was followed by an inspirational message from ๐๐ซ. ๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ญ ๐๐ฎ๐ญ๐ก ๐. ๐๐จ๐ณ๐๐ซ, ๐๐๐๐-Mainit ๐๐๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐๐ข๐ซ๐๐๐ญ๐จ๐ซ, who underscored the vital role of education in empowering women and promoting gender equality.
The highlight of the event was the seminar on "๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ค๐ฌ๐๐ง๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ค๐ข๐๐ฃ ๐๐๐ง๐ค๐ช๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ก ๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ง๐๐๐ฎ: ๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ง๐จ๐ฉ๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ค๐ช๐ง ๐๐๐๐๐ฉ๐จ," conducted by ๐๐ญ๐ญ๐ฒ. ๐๐๐ง๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ ๐. ๐๐๐ฅ๐ข. Geli explained that RA 7877 holds employers, educators, and those in positions of authority accountable for addressing sexual harassment in workplaces, schools, and training institutions. Meanwhile, RA 11313 expands protection against gender-based harassment in public spaces and online, penalizing acts such as catcalling, stalking, sexist remarks, and online harassment. She encouraged women to be aware of their rights and to report violations to help create a safer and more respectful society. To recognize her valuable insights, a plaque of appreciation was awarded to Atty. Geli, followed by a photo opportunity with university officials and attendees.
