𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 2025 𝐚𝐭 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲! 💜

Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU)-Mainit Campus held a successful National Women’s Month Celebration on March 25, 2025, highlighting the importance of gender equality, women’s empowerment, and legal literacy. The event, spearheaded by the Gender and Development (GAD) Office, was led by 𝐌𝐫𝐬. 𝐍𝐨𝐧𝐚 𝐃. 𝐒𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐨, 𝐌𝐌𝐂-𝐆𝐀𝐃 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 , and gathered faculty, students, and gender advocates under the theme “𝗕𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗲 𝘀𝗮 𝗟𝗮𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝗸𝘁𝗼𝗿, 𝗔𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝘂𝗸𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗮 𝗕𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘀.”

The program began with an invocation, followed by the singing of the National Anthem, Bagong Pilipinas Hymn, and the SNSU Hymn through an audio presentation. 𝐌𝐫𝐬. 𝐍𝐨𝐧𝐚 𝐃. 𝐒𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐨 then delivered a warm welcome address, emphasizing the university’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and safe environment for women in all sectors. To energize the participants, a Zumbabaje session was conducted by the GAD Officers, setting an enthusiastic tone for the day’s events.

After the opening activities, 𝐑𝐞𝐲𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐋. 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐛𝐚, 𝐆𝐀𝐃 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭, provided an overview of Women's Day, discussing the importance of recognizing women’s contributions in various fields. This was followed by an inspirational message from 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐭 𝐑𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐃. 𝐌𝐨𝐳𝐚𝐫, 𝐒𝐍𝐒𝐔-Mainit 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫, who underscored the vital role of education in empowering women and promoting gender equality.

The highlight of the event was the seminar on "𝙀𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙒𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣 𝙏𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙇𝙚𝙜𝙖𝙡 𝙇𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙮: 𝙐𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙍𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨," conducted by 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐲. 𝐕𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚 𝐂. 𝐆𝐞𝐥𝐢. She discussed two critical laws protecting women from harassment and abuse: 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗰𝘁 𝟳𝟴𝟳𝟳 (𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗶-𝗦𝗲𝘅𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝟭𝟵𝟵𝟱) and 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗰𝘁 𝟭𝟭𝟯𝟭𝟯 (𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗿 "𝗕𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗼𝘀" 𝗟𝗮𝘄). Atty. Geli explained that RA 7877 holds employers, educators, and those in positions of authority accountable for addressing sexual harassment in workplaces, schools, and training institutions. Meanwhile, RA 11313 expands protection against gender-based harassment in public spaces and online, penalizing acts such as catcalling, stalking, sexist remarks, and online harassment. She encouraged women to be aware of their rights and to report violations to help create a safer and more respectful society. To recognize her valuable insights, a plaque of appreciation was awarded to Atty. Geli, followed by a photo opportunity with university officials and attendees.

The event concluded with closing remarks from 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐁. 𝐀𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐨, 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, who thanked everyone for their active participation and emphasized the importance of continuous advocacy for women’s rights and empowerment. The program was hosted by 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐌. 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐥, 𝐆𝐀𝐃 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭, who ensured a smooth flow of activities throughout the day.

This March, we stand united in championing women’s rights and empowerment with the theme: “𝗕𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗲 𝘀𝗮 𝗟𝗮𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝗸𝘁𝗼𝗿, 𝗔𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝘂𝗸𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗮 𝗕𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘀.” 🌟

As we reaffirm our commitment to gender equality, we strive to create a future where every woman—regardless of background—has equal opportunities, power, and recognition. From policy advocacy to community action, let’s work together to uplift and support women in all sectors!

The 𝟭𝟴-𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗘𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 at 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 - 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬 was a resounding success, bringing together students, faculty, and advocates in a day-long program dedicated to raising awareness and inspiring action against gender-based violence.

The day began with an attendance log-in at 7:00 AM, followed by a solemn Invocation, the Philippine National Anthem, and the SNSU Hymn, setting the tone for unity and purpose. The event officially opened with a warm welcome message from 𝘿𝙧. 𝙀𝙢𝙢𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙖 𝙇. 𝙀𝙗𝙤𝙡 , SNSU-Mainit Dean for Instruction, emphasizing the significance of standing together to end violence against women and children.

Participants were energized by a lively 𝙑𝘼𝙒 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 𝘿𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 performed by the 𝘏𝘐𝘕𝘎𝘈𝘚 𝘋𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘌𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘋’ 𝘔𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘴’ 𝘖𝘳𝘨. 𝘋𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘛𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘱𝘦. The morning continued with inspiring contests showcasing students' creativity and passion for the cause, including 𝙎𝙑𝘼𝙒𝙆𝙀𝙉 𝙋𝙤𝙚𝙩𝙧𝙮, 𝘼𝙒𝙄𝙏 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙖 𝙠𝙖𝙮 𝙅𝙪𝙖𝙣𝙖, 𝙋𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧 & 𝙎𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙖𝙣 𝙈𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩, and the powerful 𝙀𝙉𝘿𝘼𝙒 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝘿𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚. These performances and artworks reflected both the gravity of the issue and the hope for change.

After a short break, the afternoon session resumed with attendance log-in and the program began with Rishelle Anne Jabian introducing the guests. The keynote speakers then tackled significant topics: 𝐌𝐫. 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐢 𝐃. 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐬 discussed the critical issues of 𝙏𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙂𝘽𝙑, 𝐌𝐬. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐇. 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐨 focused on 𝙁𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙮 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜, and 𝐌𝐫. 𝐄𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐧 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨, 𝐋𝐏𝐓 addressed 𝙃𝙄𝙑/𝘼𝙄𝘿𝙎. Following the presentations, tokens and certificates of appreciation were awarded to the guest speakers by 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐭 𝐑𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐃. 𝐌𝐨𝐳𝐚𝐫, the BTLED Program Chair, and 𝐌𝐬. 𝐍𝐨𝐧𝐚 𝐃. 𝐒𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐨, the GAD Focal Person.

The event continued with the 𝙎𝙞𝙣𝙚-𝙅𝙪𝙖𝙣𝙖 𝘿𝙞𝙜𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙨 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, featuring thought-provoking pantomime performances that creatively highlighted gender-based violence issues. Contestants also participated in 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙁𝘼𝘾𝙀 𝙎𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙑𝘼𝙒𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙖𝙧 (Students Edition), demonstrating both talent and advocacy for the campaign’s cause.

The day concluded with a meaningful 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐲, where winners and participants were recognized for their efforts and contributions. 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨 𝐈. 𝐃𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨 𝐉𝐫., BAT/BSA Program Chair, delivered heartfelt closing remarks, acknowledging everyone’s collective efforts in making the program impactful and memorable.

This event successfully combined education, art, and advocacy to raise awareness and foster meaningful discussions on ending violence against women and children.
