Four innovative students from MahNHS made a strong debut in the Department of Information and Communications Technologyโ€™s (DICT) Province-wide Reverse Pitching Competition, finishing second runner-up Monday in Mambajao, Camiguin.

The Uphill Innovators, composed of Joeld Avin Lopez, Tij Michone Maderal, Althea Jamero and Nina Isabelle Cassandra Quilation, were among the nine teams selected from entries submitted by high school and college participants, advancing to the final round of presentations.

Their finish came as the team competed not only against fellow high school students but also against college-level teams, making the achievement a significant milestone for the schoolโ€™s first participation in the competition.

The team presented BiteInByte, an application developed from their own concept. The team said they hope to further develop BiteInByte into an ICT solution using a coding-based platform, which would allow the application to become more scalable, customizable and sustainable.

Coach Jovann Rey M. Pangan guided the students throughout the competition.

The competition, now in its second year, brings together aspiring innovators and aims to help shape the future of innovation while creating opportunities for employment across the region.

For the Uphill Innovators, the podium finish marks more than a first-place attempt at a new competition. It gives MahNHS a place among the provinceโ€™s emerging young innovators, and a promising start to its journey in technology and innovation.

๐ˆ๐ ๐๐‡๐Ž๐“๐Ž๐’ | MahNHS successfully hosted the Mahinog Districts 1 and 2 Enhancement Training for Campus Journalists, bringing together more than 200 campus journalists, school paper advisers, and coaches from schools across the two districts.

The two-day training was conducted to strengthen the skills of young campus journalists and prepare them for the upcoming Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) on September 12โ€“14, 2026.

The activity featured a team of experienced resource speakers who shared their expertise in various areas of campus journalism. Among them were EPS-English Mark Palad, EPS-Filipino Victoriano Capagngan Jr., and journalism practitioners and expert teachers John Pompei โ€œPopaiโ€ Almonia, Ivy Jane Dulaogon, Danieca Bulawin, Charl Waminal, Keith Openano, and Jehanne Bangot.

The speakers, who have also participated in regional-level journalism training, provided participants with practical knowledge, techniques, and strategies aimed at improving their performance in different journalism categories.

Throughout the two-day activity, participants engaged in lectures, discussions, workshops, and hands-on activities designed to sharpen their writing, reporting, and other campus journalism skills.

MahNHS also fielded a strong delegation of 66 campus journalists and nine coaches, demonstrating its commitment to developing competent and responsible young writers and journalists.

The training served as an important avenue for campus journalists from Mahinog Districts 1 and 2 to learn from experienced educators and practitioners while building confidence ahead of the Division Schools Press Conference.

With the successful conduct of the enhancement training, Mahinog NHS and the participating schools are now better prepared to face the challenges of the upcoming DSPC, carrying with them strengthened skills, renewed confidence, and a deeper appreciation for campus journalism.

Team Persians emerged as the overall champion of the MAHNHS Intramurals 2026, held on August 8โ€“9, after accumulating the highest number of points among the four competing teams.

The Persians gained a significant advantage from the track events, which produced the teamโ€™s biggest haul of gold medals and contributed heavily to their overall standing.

The Trojans finished second, followed by the Greeks in third and the Romans in fourth. The final standings reflected the teamsโ€™ performances across the different events, with Team Persians securing the overall title at the conclusion of the two-day competition.
