CANDIIS, Magsaysay, Misamis Oriental β July 8, 2026 β Kandiis Integrated School successfully conducted the S.A.F.E. (Students Advocating for a Friendly and Empowered Environment) Symposium on July 8, 2026, bringing together Grade 6 to Grade 10 learners for a day of learning and awareness on issues affecting the well-being and development of today's youth.
The symposium aimed to equip students with the knowledge and values needed to make responsible decisions, build healthy relationships, and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment.
In the morning session, Dr. Johannes Kevin Lim, Municipal Health Officer from the Rural Health Unit of Magsaysay, discussed four essential topics: Mental Health, Anger Management, Teenage Pregnancy, and Bullying. Through informative discussions and practical insights, Dr. Lim encouraged learners to prioritize their mental and emotional well-being, manage their emotions constructively, treat others with kindness and respect, and make informed choices that positively shape their future.
The afternoon session featured PCpl Veer Earl Gonzales, who delivered a lecture on Illegal Drugs and Their Legal Consequences. He emphasized the harmful effects of illegal drug use on individuals, families, and communities while explaining the legal responsibilities and consequences under Philippine law. Students were encouraged to stay away from prohibited substances and become advocates of responsible and law-abiding behavior.
The symposium was actively participated in by Grade 6 to Grade 10 students, who listened attentively and engaged in the discussions, demonstrating their commitment to becoming informed, responsible, and empowered members of the school community.
Guidance Designate Mr. Marlie Marcellones expressed his sincere gratitude to the invited speakers for generously sharing their expertise and valuable experiences. He emphasized that the knowledge gained from the symposium would greatly help students become advocates of a friendly and empowered environment, fostering a school culture where respect, responsibility, safety, and compassion thrive.
