Learning the /k/ sound becomes easier when children can SEE the rule!

This is one of our Phonics Wall Posters at Magallanes Learning Center, created to help young learners understand when to use c, k and ck.

Instead of simply memorizing spelling patterns, we want our learners to understand the pattern, see it, say it, and use it.

Small reminders on the wall can make a big difference in a child’s reading and spelling journey.

When one strategy doesn’t work, we try another. That’s what teaching is all about. ❤️

My student was using her fingers to count when adding, it helped at first, but as the numbers got bigger, she sometimes lost track of her counting and got the wrong answer.

So instead of simply telling her to “count again,” I introduced a few simple addition techniques that matched the way she learns. And the amazing part? It worked! 🥰

She became more confident, less confused, and was able to find the answers with a better strategy. 👏

This is why I believe that teaching is not about forcing every child to learn the same way. Sometimes, we just need to find the right strategy for the child.

One child. One learner. One strategy at a time. 💙

Every child learns best when they feel encouraged, supported, and believed in.

Watching one of our dedicated teachers guide her 4-year-old tutee reminds us that learning to read isn't about rushing, it's about building confidence one sound, one word, and one smile at a time.
