|QSU Maddela Brings Mushroom Production Training to Cabaruan Integrated School|

Students of Cabaruan Integrated School were given a valuable and hands-on learning experience as Quirino State University (QSU) Maddela Campus conducted an extension program on mushroom production for Grade 11 and 12 learners.

The activity was made possible through the initiative and leadership of the school head, Mr. Sherwin B. Salas, who aimed to provide students with practical skills that could serve as both academic enrichment and a potential livelihood in the future.

During the program, QSU facilitators guided the students through every step of mushroom cultivation — from preparing substrates and inoculating spawn to bagging and managing fruiting bags. The sessions were interactive, and students eagerly took part in the hands-on demonstrations, showing genuine interest and excitement in learning something new.

Teachers noted how the activity helped students appreciate agriculture in a fresh and engaging way. Many students expressed that it was their first time seeing the full process of mushroom production and that the experience inspired them to consider agriculture-related opportunities.

The collaboration between QSU Maddela and Cabaruan Integrated School highlighted the shared commitment to empowering learners through meaningful, real-world skills.

CABIS extends its heartfelt thanks to QSU Maddela for sharing their expertise, and to Mr. Sherwin B. Salas for his dedication in bringing opportunities like this to the students. Sincere appreciation is also given to all Grade 11 and 12 participants whose enthusiasm made the program truly successful.
