Maddela, Quirino โ€” Maddela Comprehensive High School (MCHS), the lone school selected to represent the Schools Division of Quirino in the 2026 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), underwent an ocular inspection and readiness audit on August 14.

The activity was conducted by the Department of Education Central Office through the Monitoring and Evaluation Office to assess the schoolโ€™s readiness and ensure compliance with the minimum technical and operational requirements for the administration of the 2026 PISA.

Leading the inspection team was Jemimah Keren A. Carag of the DepEd Central Office. She was joined by Schools Division Office (SDO) Quirino officials, including CID Chief Mely Rubi, Education Program Supervisor (EPS) in Science Gloria Bacani, EPS in Mathematics Arnold Saballa, and Information Technology Officer I Esdras M. Agacer.

Also present during the activity was Maddela I Public Schools District Supervisor Liwliwa Bareng.

The team inspected the schoolโ€™s computer laboratory, facilities, logistical preparations, and other operational requirements to determine MCHSโ€™s readiness for the international large-scale assessment.

School Principal Rame Bu-ucan expressed gratitude for the visit, saying, โ€œWe are grateful for this opportunity to showcase MCHSโ€™s readiness and commitment to quality education.โ€

The successful conduct of the readiness audit was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the MCHS personnel. The school recognized Carlo Espartinez, Master Teacher I and School PISA Coordinator, for spearheading the schoolโ€™s preparations and coordinating the activity.

Also acknowledged were Ryan Mark Baltazar, Junior High School ICT Coordinator, and Jimmy Cabungcal, Senior High School ICT Coordinator, for preparing the computer laboratory and ensuring that the facilities met the technical requirements for the audit.

Regional Memorandum No. 016 stated that the readiness audit was conducted in selected PISA-sampled schools across Cagayan Valley from Aug. 11 to 14, with MCHS serving as the designated school for the Schools Division of Quirino.

Seventy-three learners of Maddela Comprehensive High School (MCHS) completed a two-day Basic Life Support (BLS) Training aimed at strengthening their knowledge and skills in responding to medical emergencies held at the school gymnasium, August 8-9, 2026.

The training gathered members and officers of the Red Cross Youth (RCY), Search and Rescue (SSAR), Riders Club, and Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT). Participants attended discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on activities on Basic Life Support, emergency response, teamwork, discipline, and preparedness.

To conclude the training, participants took part in emergency response simulations where they applied the techniques and procedures discussed during the sessions. The activity provided learners with the opportunity to practice responding to different emergency situations while working as a team.

The activity was conducted through the support of School Principal Rame Bu-ucan, School DRRM Coordinator Rodel Dinamling, LDRRMO Head Edwin Besas, School Nurse and RCY Adviser Cristina Domingo, RCY Adviser Jonavee Jane Ingaran, SSAR Advisers Jay-ar Ingaran and Leejor Robledo, and Riders Club Adviser Mark Lester Dacmay.

Rescue 104 trainers facilitated the lectures, demonstrations, practical exercises, and simulation activities throughout the two-day training, providing participants with instruction on Basic Life Support procedures and emergency response.

The training forms part of MCHSโ€™s continuing efforts to develop learnersโ€™ preparedness and promote safety awareness in school and the community.

The Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) proudly celebrates the participation of Hyacinth Jemimah R. Baybayan, Rod Shawn R. Bu-ucan, and Emilliano O. Manuzon II in the 1st Quirino Youth Leaders' Parliament, together with their dedicated SSLG Adviser, Sir Reymark A. Luna.

Held at the Watersports Complex and the Quirino Provincial Capitol Plenary Hall, the event gathered young leaders from across the province to strengthen their leadership, collaborate on meaningful discussions, and promote active youth participation in governance.

Maddela Comprehensive High School (MCHS) was named Champion in the 2026 Regional Nutrition Month Online Video Contest conducted by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region II.

The winning team was composed of Ralph Nexus Tesalona, Xyrll Valen Dinamling, Prince Jhayson Bartolome, Princess Melanie Cadeliรฑa, and Sharlene Rose Tejada, all Grade 12โ€“STEM 1 students. The team was coached by John Mark Mangantulao.

The contest was part of the 2026 Nutrition Month Celebration, carrying the theme โ€œSa PPAN, Sama-sama sa Nutrisyong Sapat Para sa Lahatโ€ and the sub-theme โ€œNutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!โ€ Participants produced video entries promoting nutrition and environmental awareness.

School Principal Rame R. Bu-ucan said the recognition reflects the studentsโ€™ commitment to using digital media to support nutrition advocacy. She congratulated the team and their coach for representing the school in the regional competition and encouraged learners to continue participating in programs that promote learning and community engagement.

The team also acknowledged the individuals and organizations who contributed to the production of the winning video. Special thanks were extended to Kristofer Dullodul and Edgar Perez for allowing the use of their drone footage; the Maddela Tourism, Culture and the Arts Office for the drone footage featured in the video; GMA News for the short video clips used for informational purposes; and the Grade 7 students of Maddela Comprehensive High School for their participation in the Supplementary Feeding Program featured in the production.

The official results were released by the National Nutrition Council Region II. Cash prizes will be coordinated through the respective Provincial and City Nutrition Committees.

Students of Maddela Comprehensive High School (MCHS) brought home top honors during the 2026 Nutrition Month Culminating Program, July 30.

The awarding ceremony was conducted by the Municipal Nutrition Committee as part of the municipalityโ€™s observance of the 52nd Nutrition Month Celebration with the theme, โ€œSa PPAN Sama-Sama sa Nutrisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat!โ€ and the sub-theme, โ€œNutrisyon at Kalikasan Ating Pangalagaan!โ€

The First Place award in the Video Making Contest was earned by Ralph Nexus Tesalona, Xyrll Valen Dinamling, Prince Jhayson Bartolome, Princess Melanie Cadeliรฑa, and Sharlene Rose Tejada, under the coaching of John Mark Mangantulao.

In the Poster Making Contest (Student Category), Leo Angelo Fernandez secured Second Place under the guidance of coach Ferna Joy Mariano.

Meanwhile, Rhayca Salvador won Third Place in the Digital Photography Contest, while Oonah Barang received a Consolation Award in the same competition. Both students were coached by Pepito Delos Reyes Jr.

School Principal Dr. Rame R. Bu-ucan expressed her appreciation for the students and coaches who represented the school.

โ€œThese awards reflect the dedication of our learners and coaches. We are grateful for their hard work and will continue to support programs that develop our studentsโ€™ talents while promoting health, nutrition, and environmental awareness,โ€ she said.

The achievements highlight the creativity, teamwork, and commitment of MCHS learners and coaches in promoting the goals of the Nutrition Month celebration.

Maddela Comprehensive High School (MCHS) received the Municipal Level Eco-Friendly School Award during the Multi-Sectoral Assessment and Awarding Ceremony held on July 30 at the Municipal Gymnasium, Maddela, Quirino.

The award was presented by the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) in partnership with the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO) and the Municipal Government of Maddela.

MCHS was recognized for its implementation of environmental programs and sustainable practices.

The plaque of recognition was signed by Redentor A. Soriano, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer; Edwin S. Besas, LDRRMO and Chairperson of the Multi-Sectoral Monitoring and Evaluation Team; Jamina Anne O. Tolentino, Chairperson of the Sangguniang Bayan Committee on Environment; and Hon. Rimel C. Tolentino, Municipal Mayor.

In an interview, School Principal Dr. Rame R. Bu-ucan said the award reflects the shared efforts of the school community.

โ€œWe are grateful for this recognition. It reflects the efforts of our teachers, learners, parents, and stakeholders in promoting environmental responsibility. This encourages us to continue our sustainability programs for the school and the community,โ€ Dr. Bu-ucan said.

Maddela, Quirino | July 25, 2026 โ€“ Maddela Comprehensive High School conducted its First School Parents-Teachers Association (SPTA) General Meeting for School Year 2026โ€“2027 at the MCHS Gymnasium.

The activity brought together parents, teachers, school officials, SPTA officers, and student leaders.

The program opened with an invocation led by Ptr. Leo T. Panaden, SPTA Vice President, followed by the Welcome Remarks of Donalinda T. Balbero, SPTA President. The SPTA president thanked the parents and stakeholders for their support and encouraged them to continue working with the school.

The program included the Presentation and Oath-Taking of the SPTA Board of Directors (BOD) Officers and the Oath-Taking of Student Leaders from the different school organizations.

The oath-taking ceremonies were facilitated by School Principal Rame R. Bu-ucan who reminded the officers and student leaders of their duties and responsibilities.

In her message, the school principal discussed the role of parents, teachers, and student leaders in supporting the schoolโ€™s programs and learners.

The Financial Report was presented by Beverly L. Manuel, SPTA Treasurer. Balbero also presented the Accomplishment Report and Future Projects of the association.

An Open Forum followed, allowing parents and stakeholders to raise concerns, ask questions, and provide suggestions regarding school programs and activities.

The program concluded with the closing remarks of Rodel F. Dinamling, JHS Department Head Designate.

The First SPTA General Meeting provided an opportunity for parents, teachers, school officials, and student leaders to discuss school programs, present reports, administer the oath of office to the newly elected officers, and strengthen cooperation among stakeholders for School Year 2026โ€“2027.
