Joenil Banga has been declared the winner of the 35th Civil Registration Month essay writing contest, held at Villa Jacinta National Vocational High School on 6th February, 2025. The competition, centered around the theme "Building a Resilient, Agile, and Future-fit Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System," saw participation from the three national high schools in the Municipality of Macrohon. Entries were judged based on relevance to the theme, creativity and originality, and presentation and delivery.
Banga's impressive performance and deep understanding of the importance of civil registration stood out among the contenders. Trisha Monter from Ichon National High School secured second place, and Angel Betonio from Villa Jacinta National Vocational High School took third.
Banga in her speech underscored the importance of technology in building a resilient and agile civil registration. "By investing into the technical and digital technology, it can match the higher demand of people as a power tool for good governance and larger scope of registration", Banga, said.
The Civil Registration Month, observed every February, aims to raise awareness about the significance of timely and accurate registration of vital events like births, marriages, and deaths. This year's theme emphasizes the need for a robust and adaptable civil registration system that can meet the evolving needs of the population.
The contest served as a platform for students to demonstrate their understanding of the crucial role civil registration plays in individual rights, public services, and national planning. Banga's victory highlights the importance of engaging the youth in promoting awareness and appreciation for this essential process. -end-
