In-Person Demand Survey for BA DevSt and BSSW Launched

UPDEPPO Director Dr. Patrick C. De Leon successfully conducted a demand survey for the proposed Development Studies and Social Work bachelor's degree programs among six sections of Grade 11 students of Eastern Porac National High School last October 1, 2026.

The activity sought to gather valuable insights on senior high school students' academic interests and career aspirations, helping ensure that future program offerings are responsive to the needs of prospective students and their communities. Prior to the classroom orientation and survey administration, Dr. De Leon met with their school principal and teachers to discuss the purpose, significance, and objectives of the demand survey.

UPDEPPO continues to strengthen its partnerships with local schools and communities while advancing its commitment to expanding access to quality UP education.

UPDEPPO Inks MOAs with PREO/CCA and LBP West CSFP

On October 1, 2026, UP Diliman Extension Programs in Pampanga and Olongapo (UPDEPPO) Director Dr. Patrick C. De Leon personally delivered the signed and notarized Memoranda of Agreement (MOAs) to the Pampanga Research Educators Organization (PREO)/City College of Angeles, where Dr. Jean Paolo Lacap, CCA's Vice President for Research, Extension and Quality Assurance, received the document on behalf of the institution, and to the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) West San Fernando Branch.

UPDEPPO remains grateful for the trust and partnership of institutions that support its mission of advancing learning and community engagement in the region.

Ipinagmamalaki ng UP Diliman Extension Programs in Pampanga and Olongapo (UPDEPPO) ang pagkakatampok kay Dr. Rowena P. Festin Valerio bilang isa sa mga hurado ng 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary: Tinig at Panulat (Essay Writing Contest) ng Civil Service Commission Region IV.

Binabati namin si Dr. Valerio sa pagkilalang ito at sa patuloy niyang pagbibigay-inspirasyon sa mga manunulat, mag-aaral, at lingkod-bayan. 💚❤

𝗦𝗶 𝗥𝝾𝘄𝗲𝗻𝗮 𝗣. 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻 ay ipinanganak at lumaki sa San Jose, Occidental Mindoro. Nagtapos siya ng doktorado sa Unibersidad ng Pilipinas - Diliman. Sa kasalukuyan, siya ay g**o sa Unibersidad ng Pilipinas - Pampanga.

Ang kanyang mga tula at maikling kuwento ay nagkamit ng mga pagkilala sa Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards at Gawad Galian. Kinilala rin siya ng Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) bilang Makata ng Taon. Kinilala ng National Book Development Board (NBDB) at Manila Critics Circle (MCC) ang kanyang aklat ng mga tula na Banayad bilang pinakamahusay na aklat ng mga tula sa Filipino noong 2017 at kanyang aklat ng mga maikling kuwento na Ang Buang ng Bayan bilang pinakamahusay na aklat ng mga maikling kuwento sa Filipino noong 2024. Isinalin niya sa Filipino ang nobelang Great Expectations ni Charles Dickens na inilimbag ng KWF, at ang nobelang Little Women ni Louisa May Alcott na inilimbag naman ng Southern Voices (SVPP). Ang kanyang mga tula, maikling kuwento, at mga kritikal na sanaysay tungkol sa panitikan at kulturang Pilipino ay nailathala sa mga lokal at internasyonal na dyornal at antolohiya.

[NEW PUBLICATION] 📘

Congratulations to Asst. Prof. Cynthia Grace S. Sanguyu on the publication of her book chapter, "Indigenizing Philippine Literary Studies," in the recently launched book "Rooting Indigeneity in the Philippines: Contexts and Complexities," edited by Leah Abayao, Carolyn Podruchny, and Jimmy Fong, published by the UP Baguio Cordillera Studies Center and launched on October 1, 2026.

Her book chapter contributes to ongoing scholarly conversations on Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices (IKSPs), advocating for Philippine literary studies that are grounded in indigenous worldviews, traditions, and epistemologies.

A complimentary copy of the book is available at the UPDEPPO Clark Library for students, faculty, researchers, and interested readers.

The University of the Philippines Diliman Extension Programs in Pampanga and Olongapo (UPDEPPO) invites our students, faculty, staff, alumni, partners, and friends to support the establishment of Silid Paslit, the approved childminding room that will soon occupy Room 106 of the UPDEPPO Clark Campus.

Silid Paslit aims to provide a safe, nurturing, and child-friendly space for the children of our personnel who may not always have access to childcare while reporting for work. It is also intended for kids of students in the MM and MGIL Graduate Programs. More than a room, it is a commitment to fostering a caring and inclusive workplace for our UPDEPPO community.

We are humbly seeking donations to help furnish and equip the facility with essential items such as:
🧸 Toys and children's books
🪑 Child-friendly furniture and room essentials
🎨 Learning and play materials
🛝 Play equipment and safety features
🧩 Other resources that can contribute to a welcoming environment for young children
