In a significant step toward strengthening international academic partnerships, Mabalacat City College (MCC), Philippines, and Ramananda Centenary College (RCC), India, convened a virtual meeting on June 16, 2026, via Microsoft Teams to explore opportunities for collaborative engagement in research, education, and community development.
The meeting was presided over by Prof. Glen S. Nolasco, MSc, Vice President for Research and Extension Services of MCC. Joining the discussion were Dr. Marilyn S. Arcilla, RN, PhD, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Prof. Jennifer Merza, MBA, Vice President for External Affairs; Mr. Llewellyn Manjares Jr., JD, Legal Officer; Ally Julian Liwanag, Research Assistant and Mr. Reginald Tolentino, MS, Executive Assistant.
Representing Ramananda Centenary College were Prof. Arpita Ghosh, Dr. Kalyan Sundar Som, Dr. Manab Saha, and Dr. Ramsankar Pradhan, who shared their institution's vision for expanding international academic cooperation and fostering meaningful global partnerships.
The dialogue centered on prospective areas of collaboration, including joint research initiatives, community engagement programs, resource-sharing mechanisms, faculty and staff mobility, international seminars and workshops, and the implementation of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) programs. These initiatives aim to enrich academic experiences, broaden cultural perspectives, and strengthen research capabilities within both institutions.
A key highlight of the meeting was the discovery of numerous shared advocacies and research interests between MCC and RCC. Both institutions have actively engaged in community-based initiatives involving Indigenous Peoples, conducted studies on endemic and indigenous species, and participated in selected projects under the Asia Science Mission. These commonalities provide a strong foundation for future collaborative endeavors that address both local and global challenges.
Ramananda Centenary College also expressed its enthusiasm for organizing joint webinar series, capacity-building workshops, COIL activities, and cultural exchange programs that showcase India's rich and ancient civilization. Such initiatives are expected to create valuable opportunities for students and faculty, particularly within the social sciences, humanities, and history disciplines, while fostering greater intercultural understanding and global citizenship.
The promising outcomes of the meeting reflect MCC's continuing commitment to internationalization under the leadership of College President Dr. Sonny N. De Guzman and the guidance of the Chairman of the Board, Hon. Mayor Atty. Geld P. Aquino. Their vision emphasizes expanding the institution's reach beyond local and national borders through strategic international partnerships that advance academic excellence, research innovation, and community impact.
As both institutions move toward formalizing their collaboration, the partnership marks another milestone in MCC's efforts to establish a stronger presence within the global academic community and create transformative opportunities for its stakeholders.
