When we talk about a child’s genius, we’re really talking about their natural way of learning, creating, and expressing understanding. Every child has unique ways of absorbing, processing, and sharing knowledge — and knowing those can help you teach them in ways that feel joyful and natural instead of forced.

Let’s look at two complementary ways to discover their “genius”:
1️⃣ Learning Styles (how they learn best)
2️⃣ Multiple Intelligences (what kind of “smart” they are)

🧭 How to Discover Each Child’s Genius

Here’s how you can observe and decode their dominant learning and intelligence types:

Watch what they choose when no one tells them what to do — that’s often their genius zone.

Notice what frustrates them easily — that might signal an area where their learning style doesn’t match the teaching method.

Rotate activities — storytelling, art, movement, songs — and observe which one keeps them flowing and focused the longest.

Ask them questions like:

“When do you feel you learn best?”

“Do you like to draw it, talk about it, or move while learning it?”

Have you taught your child calming strategies which they don't seem to be able to remember/use in the heat of the moment?

When working with young people I will use keyrings as reminders for the strategies introduced (weekly) to help them problem solve or calm.

This is because when the brain goes into survival mode (fight-flight-freeze-fawn) the cortex (upstairs brain) becomes inactive when oxygen is diverted to other parts of the body - making rational thought (and remembering the strategies) impossible.

This is why teaching children and young people the role of the brain in emotional regulation is so imperative.

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS THE SYMBOLS, not the physical keyring.
