On July 29, 2026, the Senior High School Student Government (SHSSG) gathered at the Maasin City Hall to participate in the observance of National Anti-Trafficking in Persons Awareness Month 2026 with the theme, โIisang Nasyon, Iisang Aksyon: Tapusin ang Human Trafficking Ngayon!โ Alongside this, students also attended an informative seminar on the Anti-Bullying Act of 2013 (Republic Act No. 10627), strengthening their awareness of the importance of creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive community.
The discussions provided valuable insights into the realities of human trafficking, including its warning signs, recruitment methods, legal consequences, and ways to protect oneself from becoming a victim. Students also learned about the different forms of bullying, its effects on both victims and perpetrators, and the importance of speaking up, showing kindness, and standing against all forms of abuse and discrimination.
We extend our sincere appreciation to our resource speakers, PSSg. Bavylyn Dongon of the Philippine National Police โ Women and Children Protection Section and Ms. Jhade M. Bestudio, RSW, City Social Welfare and Development Officer, for sharing their expertise and reminding us that awareness is the first step toward prevention.
We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Dulce Amor K. Cantones, RSW, SWO I / GBV Focal, Office of the City Social Welfare and Development Officer (OCSWDO), for inviting the SHSSG to be part of this meaningful activity and for giving our student leaders the opportunity to learn, engage, and become advocates for safety, respect, and social responsibility.
As Josephinian student leaders, may we continue to promote awareness, speak up against injustice, and work together in building a community where everyone feels protected, valued, and empowered.
Together, let us end human trafficking.
Together, let us stand against bullying.
