Education in Emergencies (EiE) Protocols Explained

DepEd uses four response levels to guide schools and learners during emergencies, disasters, or disruptions to classes. These help ensure the safety, continuity, and well-being of everyone in the learning community.

Hayo / Continue
Normal classroom learning continues as scheduled.
✔️ Face-to-face classes proceed normally.
✔️ School operations remain uninterrupted.

Hinay / Ease-in
Structured distance learning experiences are implemented.
✔️ Learners may shift to modular, online, or blended activities.
✔️ Reduced pace to support safety and adjustment.

Hinga / Check-in
Focus on learner check-ins and light learning tasks.
✔️ Prioritizes emotional well-being and communication.
✔️ Only light distance learning activities are given.

Hinto / Stop
All forms of learning are temporarily suspended.
✔️ Implemented during severe emergencies or unsafe conditions.
✔️ Priority is safety, protection, and recovery.

These protocols are designed to help schools respond effectively while protecting both learning continuity and the welfare of learners and teachers.
