The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) announces the call for applications to the Colombian Institute for Educational Credit and Technical Studies Abroad (ICETEX) Programme for Spanish language courses, specialization programs, and master’s degrees under the 2026-2 Academic Offer Catalog.

This program provides opportunities for international students to pursue higher education and language training in Colombia with financial support from the Government of Colombia through ICETEX.

Apayao State College (ASC), under the leadership of College President Dr. John N. Cabansag, has earned international recognition after securing the 𝟏𝟔𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 among the Global Top 500 Innovative Universities in the World University Rankings for Innovation 2026. This achievement affirms ASC’s growing presence in the global higher education landscape and highlights its commitment to innovation, relevance, and meaningful societal impact.

Guided by its institutional vision and aligned with the strategic directions of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) through ACHIEVE program, and through the unending support of CHED Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) via programs such as UPLIFT, and the newly implemented STREAM, ASC continues to strengthen its programs in instruction, research, extension, and internationalization. These collective efforts ensure that the College remains responsive to both local development priorities and global challenges.

The College demonstrated strong performance across multiple WURI categories, with its most notable distinction in Entrepreneurial Culture and Ecosystem (A4), where ASC ranked 3rd worldwide. This milestone reflects the institution’s success in cultivating innovation-driven mindsets, supporting enterprise development, and creating opportunities that empower students and communities alike.

ASC also achieved commendable placements in several key areas: Cost Effectiveness Management (15th), SDG and ESG-Based Responses (24th), and Visionary Leadership (35th). These results highlight the College’s efficient governance, commitment to sustainable development, and forward-looking leadership.

In the areas of research, instruction, and community engagement, ASC continues to demonstrate meaningful impact, ranking 38th in Representative Research Projects, 40th in Social Impact through Knowledge Transfer, and 61st in Curricular Innovation for Future Readiness. The College also maintained solid standings in Student Support and Engagement (49th), Industrial Application (52nd), and Future-Oriented Responses to Global Uncertainty (52nd) underscoring its ability to adapt and respond to emerging global trends.

Further, ASC’s growing international presence is reflected in its rankings in Student Mobility and Openness (78th) and University Brand and Reputation (78th), signaling increasing recognition beyond national borders.

These achievements are the result of a collective institutional effort, with 29 entries submitted across various categories, demonstrating ASC’s strong culture of collaboration, innovation, and evidence-based practice.

More than a measure of performance, ASC’s WURI 2026 ranking represents its continuing journey toward becoming a globally competitive and socially responsive institution.
