Today, we commemorate the 𝟒𝟑𝐫𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 of former Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. His life was marked by courage, determination, and a steadfast belief in freedom and democracy.

📌 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭, 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬! 𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰?
Ninoy Aquino could have remained safely in the 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬, but he still chose to return to the Philippines on 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟏, 𝟏𝟗𝟖𝟑, despite knowing that it could put his life at risk. To ensure a safe journey, he used the alias "𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐨." As stated by former Philippine diplomat Jose Ampeso, "𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥" referred to 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐚𝐰, while "𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐨" referred to 𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐨. Knowing the dangers that awaited him, Ninoy Aquino chose to return home, not only with a new name but also with a fierce determination to face whatever lay ahead. His journey home became more than just a return; it was a turning point in Philippine history. 🇵🇭

Ngayong araw, sama-sama nating ipagdiwang ang ating lungsod na puno ng kulay, kwento, kultura, at mga alaala. Sa bawat kanto, kalsada, lumang paaralan, at mga gusali na may mga kuwentong patuloy na bumubuo sa pagkakakilanlan ng bawat Lucenahin at nagbibigay-buhay sa lungsod na tinatawag nating tahanan.

📌Pero alam niyo ba mga Marian's? Ang pinagmulan ng pangalang "Lucena" ay 𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐚 𝐬𝐚 𝐋𝐮𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐚 at 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧. Ito naman ay iniugnay sa unang parish priest ng Lucena na si 𝐅𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐨 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐣𝐚. Ayon sa historical marker ng National Historical Commission of the Philippines, ang dating nayon ng Tayabas ay dumaan muna sa mga pangalang Buenavista, Oroquietta, at Cotta bago ito naging tuluyang Lucena noong Hunyo 1, 1882. Sa kabilang banda, naging opisyal na lungsod naman ito noong Hunyo 𝟏𝟕, 𝟏𝟗𝟔𝟏 𝐬𝐚 𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐦 𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐜𝐭 𝐍𝐨. 𝟑𝟐𝟕𝟏

📌 Marian's Did You Know? Quezon is often called the "Ama ng Wika" (Father of the National Language) because of his efforts to establish a national language for the Philippines. His legacy reminds us that language is more than just a means of communication—it is also a vital part of our identity as Filipinos.
