Congratulations to composer Nilo Alcala, Maryhill Academy Batch 1995, for your well-deserved inclusion in the CCP Encyclopedia of Philippine Art.
Nilo Alcala’s journey as a composer has been nothing short of remarkable. From his humble beginnings at Maryhill Academy, he has gone on to become an acclaimed composer, collaborating with renowned artists, ensembles, and orchestras worldwide. His works have been performed in prestigious venues and festivals, captivating audiences with their unique blend of traditional and contemporary elements.
But Nilo's impact goes far beyond his compositions. He has dedicated himself to teaching and mentoring young musicians, passing on his knowledge and passion for music to the next generation. Through workshops, masterclasses, and outreach programs, he has inspired countless aspiring artists, fostering a love for music in their hearts.
Nilo Alcala serves as a shining example of the Maryknoll spirit, embodying the values instilled in him during his time at Maryhill Academy. His success is a testament to the transformative power of education, dedication, and perseverance.

Congratulations Nilo Alcala (Maryhill Academy Batch 1995)
Recipient of the 12th "ANI NG DANGAL" Awards.
Ani ng Dangal or "Harvest of Honors" is a state recognition given by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts under the Office of the President of the Republic of the Philippines. It is an annual event in the Philippines celebrated as a highlight and concluding rite of the Philippine Arts Festival.
The Awarding will be on February 24, 2020 at Malacañang Palace.
This year marks the second time Nilo is receiving the Ani ng Dangal Award. The first one was in 2009.
The National Commission for Culture and the Arts lauds fifty two (52) world renowned artists through a special exhibit on the 12th Ani ng Dangal Awards at the Atrium of S Maison of Conrad Manila which opens February 17.
The Ani ng Dangal (Harvest of Honors) Awards recognizes artists who have earned international awards and accolades during the past year. For 2020, the award shall be given to one (1) artist for Architecture and the Allied Arts, seventeen (17) acts in Cinema, seven (7) awards in Dance, three (3) in Literary Arts, eight (8) in Music, and sixteen (16) in Visual Arts.
