READ|| MPES Launches "Kultura ay Disiplina, Gawing Gawi ang Mabuti" School-Based Habit Formation Program.
In its continuing commitment to cultivating responsible, disciplined, and values-oriented learners, Mayao Parada Elementary School successfully implemented "Kultura ay Disiplina, Gawing Gawi ang Mabuti,"a school-based habit formation program designed to strengthen positive behavior and character development among pupils.
The initiative was spearheaded by School Principal I, Mrs. Loida L. Tabernilla, together with GMRC Coordinator, Mrs. Ma. Rodessa L. Dalida, as part of the school's commitment to promoting a safe, inclusive, and learner-centered educational environment.
As the program officially commenced, pupils actively participated in a series of meaningful classroom activities that emphasized responsibility, cooperation, and respect. Each class collaboratively created its own Classroom Agreement, encouraging learners to take shared ownership of their classroom community by identifying positive behaviors and commitments they would consistently practice throughout the school year.
To further inspire learners to value their learning environment, pupils showcased their creativity through the activity "Drawing a Safe and Conducive Classroom." Through their illustrations, they expressed their vision of classrooms where kindness, respect, cleanliness, cooperation, and safety are practiced every day.
Another key component of the program was the formulation of Classroom Rules and Regulations, where teachers and pupils worked together in establishing clear expectations that promote discipline, accountability, and mutual respect. This collaborative process allowed learners to understand that classroom rules are not merely imposed but are shared responsibilities that contribute to a positive and productive learning atmosphere.
Principal Loida L. Tabernilla emphasized that discipline is best developed through consistent habits and positive daily practices. She encouraged teachers, learners, and parents to work hand in hand in nurturing values that will help learners become responsible citizens both inside and outside the school.
Meanwhile, GMRC Coordinator Ma. Rodessa L. Dalida highlighted that the program reinforces the objectives of Good Manners and Right Conduct (GMRC) by helping learners transform positive values into everyday habits. She stressed that character formation begins with simple actions that, when practiced consistently, become part of a learner's way of life.
The implementation of "Kultura ay Disiplina, Gawing Gawi ang Mabuti"is aligned with the GMRC and Values Education Act, the Department of Education's Core Values—Maka-Diyos, Makatao, Makakalikasan, at Makabansa—and the DepEd Child Protection Policy, ensuring that every learner experiences a learning environment that is safe, respectful, supportive, and conducive to holistic development.
Through this initiative, Mayao Parada Elementary School reaffirms its commitment to developing learners who not only excel academically but also embody discipline, integrity, empathy, and responsibility—qualities that will guide them toward becoming productive members of society.
