Deworming Activity and Health Check-Up Conducted for Kindergarten and Grade 1 Learners

A deworming activity and health check-up for Kindergarten and Grade 1 learners were successfully facilitated by Nurse Jam La Rosa. The activity was conducted during the learners' recess time to ensure that regular classroom activities were not interrupted.

A total of 379 learners were dewormed as part of the school's health initiative aimed at promoting the well-being of young learners and preventing health issues caused by intestinal parasites. In addition to the deworming activity, learners also underwent a health check-up to assess their overall condition and identify any health concerns that may require attention.

On the same day, Sir Kim Raymund De Jesus conducted a Monitoring Activity focused on the operations of the School Canteen and the implementation of the School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP). The monitoring ensured that nutrition-related programs and services were being properly carried out and aligned with established guidelines.

Moreover, Technical Assistance was provided to the school, offering valuable guidance and support to further strengthen school programs and operations. The activity served as an opportunity to discuss best practices, address concerns, and enhance the delivery of services for the benefit of the learners.

The successful conduct of these activities highlights the collective effort of health personnel and school officials in promoting the health, nutrition, and overall welfare of the school's young learners.

Simultaneous Flag Raising Ceremony Marks the 10th Anniversary of the 2016 South China Sea Arbitral Award

The school conducted a Simultaneous Flag Raising Ceremony in commemoration of the 10th Anniversary of the 2016 South China Sea Arbitral Award, highlighting the importance of patriotism, national sovereignty, and awareness of the country's maritime rights.

The activity was facilitated by Mrs. Sherill D. Pagaduan, Master Teacher I, who led the program and encouraged participants to appreciate the significance of this historic event. An Explainer Video was presented to provide learners and teachers with a better understanding of the arbitral award and its relevance to the Philippines.

Following the video presentation, Dr. Pearl L. Tuzon, Principal II, provided a comprehensive discussion to further explain the topic and reinforce the key points presented in the video. She shared important information about the 2016 arbitral ruling and its significance in upholding the country's rights under international law. Dr. Tuzon also emphasized the value of peaceful conflict resolution and respect for established international rules in maintaining harmony among nations.

She encouraged learners to deepen their understanding of national issues and to develop a strong sense of patriotism and civic responsibility. Dr. Tuzon reminded everyone that being informed about the country's history, rights, and responsibilities helps build responsible citizens who can contribute positively to society. Silangang Mayao Elementary School Strengthens Values Formation Through Full Implementation of the GMRC “Kultura ay Disiplina Policy”

SILANGANG MAYAO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL- Strengthens Values Formation Through Full Implementation of the GMRC "Kultura ay Disiplina Policy" Silangang Mayao Elementary School has officially commenced the full implementation of the GMRC "Kultura ay Disiplina Policy," reaffirming its commitment to nurturing learners who are disciplined, responsible, and emotionally resilient.

The initiative aims to create a positive school culture where good manners, right conduct, and socio-emotional well-being are practiced daily by every learner. The successful implementation is led by School Principal Dr. Pearl L. Tuzon, together with Master Teacher Sherill D. Pagaduan and Guidance Coordinator Mizielyn M. Renigado whose collaborative efforts ensure that values education becomes an integral part of the school's learning environment.

As one of the highlights of the program, every grade level established its own Class Aggreement anchored to Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL) that encourages learners to reflect on their emotions, strengthen positive behaviors, and make meaningful commitments toward becoming responsible individuals. Kindergarten pupils began with an Emotion Check, allowing them to recognize and express their feelings. Grade 1 created a Heart Pledge Board, while Grade 2 developed a Good Habit Garden to cultivate positive daily practices. Grade 3 showcased a Photo Commitment Wall and Handchain Commitment Wall, symbolizing unity and personal responsibility. Grade 4 established a Heart Pledge Wall and Handprint Commitment Wall, while Grades 5 and 6 each developed their own Heart Pledge Wall, where learners pledged to uphold respect, discipline, and good character.

Through these meaningful activities, learners are encouraged to develop self-awareness, empathy, responsible decision-making, and healthy relationships—core competencies of Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL). More than classroom displays, these commitment walls serve as daily reminders that discipline begins with personal responsibility and is strengthened through positive actions.

Silangang Mayao Elementary School remains steadfast in its mission of developing learners who excel not only in academics but also in character. By fully embracing the GMRC "Kultura ay Disiplina Policy," the school continues to foster a culture where values, discipline, and compassion are lived every day.

School Pride Month Celebration 2026: Gawing Gawi ang Paggalang at Pagkakapantay-pantay ng Batang Lucenahin

On June 22, 2026, Silangang Mayao Elementary School conducted a Learning Action Cell (LAC) Session as part of the School Pride Month Celebration 2026 with the theme, “Gawing Gawi ang Paggalang at Pagkakapantay-pantay ng Batang Lucenahin.” The activity aimed to deepen teachers’ understanding of gender sensitivity, gender-responsive education, and DepEd policies that promote equality and inclusivity.

The session opened with registration, the singing of the National Anthem, an opening prayer, and remarks from Mrs. Pearl L. Tuzon, Principal II, who highlighted the importance of fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment for all learners.

Mrs. Marilyn Bristol, Master Teacher II, served as the resource speaker and discussed the DepEd Vision, Mission, Core Values, the DepEd 10-Point Agenda, and DepEd Order No. 32, s. 2017 or the Gender-Responsive Basic Education Policy. Participants also explored topics on gender awareness, gender sensitivity, inclusive classroom practices, and strategies for providing equal opportunities to all learners.

Teachers shared practical ways to promote gender sensitivity, including the use of gender-fair language, encouraging equal participation, respecting individual differences, and creating supportive learning spaces. Relevant DepEd policies on child protection, anti-bullying, and inclusive education were also reviewed. As part of the celebration, informational pamphlets about Pride Month were distributed to learners to raise awareness and promote understanding, respect, and appreciation of diversity.

The activity concluded with a reflection session and the awarding of certificates. Overall, the LAC Session successfully strengthened teachers’ knowledge and commitment to promoting respect, diversity, equality, and inclusivity for the holistic development of every learner.

DSAP Quezon Chapter Distributes Eating Utensils to Feeding Beneficiaries

One hundred (100) feeding beneficiaries of Silangang Mayao Elementary School received eating utensils from the Drugstores Association of the Philippines (DSAP) Quezon Chapter on June 22, 2026.

The simple distribution was conducted during the allotted feeding program time. The donated utensils were given to support the school's feeding beneficiaries and promote proper hygiene during meals.

The donation was made possible through the generosity of DSAP Quezon Chapter headed by Ms. Kristel Ann Jacela, President, and Ms. Arlene G. Casilang, Vice-President.

Silangang Mayao Elementary School Conducts 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill

Lucena City, June 18, 2026 – Silangang Mayao Elementary School successfully conducted its 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on June 18, 2026, at 9:00 AM. The activity aimed to strengthen the preparedness of learners, teachers, and school personnel in responding effectively during earthquake emergencies.

The drill began with the sounding of the alarm, prompting all participants to perform the proper “Duck, Cover, and Hold” procedure. After the simulated earthquake, learners and staff calmly proceeded to the designated evacuation areas under the guidance of their teachers and the school's Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) team.

Teachers emphasized the importance of regular earthquake drills in promoting safety awareness and developing a culture of preparedness among the school community. The activity was carried out in an orderly manner, demonstrating the participants’ understanding of earthquake safety protocols.

The Silangang Mayao Elementary School General Assembly and General Orientation was successfully held on June 11, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the SMES Covered Court.

Led by Dr. Pearl L. Tuzon, Principal II, the program opened with a meaningful message that encouraged strong collaboration among teachers, parents, guardians, and stakeholders. Important updates were discussed, including the Three-Term School Calendar, new DepEd policies, assessment guidelines, grading system, descriptors, and recognition procedures.

The assembly also highlighted vital school reminders through the discussion of School Guidelines and Child Protection Policy by Mizielyn M. Renigado, School Guidance Coordinator, followed by DRRM Updates and Cancellation of Classes presented by JB H. Caliao Jr., DRRM Coordinator – Alternate.

The Grade Leaders from Kinder to Grade 6 presented the class schedules per grade level, while Maria Thelma M. Tamayo, Literacy Coordinator, discussed the ARAL Reading Program, remediation, parent’s consent, and parent’s education. Parents were also given the opportunity to participate in the Open Forum, where concerns and clarifications were addressed.

A message of support was also shared by Mrs. Juliet Lafuente, wife of Barangay Chairman Ricardo Lafuente. In her message, she expressed the barangay’s continued support for the programs and initiatives of Silangang Mayao Elementary School. She emphasized the importance of unity among the school, parents, barangay officials, and the community in ensuring the safety, welfare, and learning development of every child. Her presence and message served as a reminder that the education of learners is a shared responsibility, and that strong community partnership plays a vital role in creating a safe, supportive, and nurturing school environment.

The program concluded with heartfelt closing remarks from Imelda D. Lacerna, SPTA President, leaving everyone with a renewed commitment to work together for the growth, safety, and success of every learner.
