“Together, we should show that population and development are not just about numbers. But they are about how we can provide opportunities to our people to be able to address their aspirations. What are the usual aspirations of young people now? For them, that’s in the Ambisyon Natin 2040.”
— Usec. Lisa Grace S. Bersales, Ph.D., Executive Director V of the Commission on Population and Development

Usec. Bersales reminds us that beyond the numerical value presented in population and development, these numbers represnt faces and aspirations, as envisioned in the Ambisyon Natin 2040. This emphasizes the importance of the 2026 CALABARZON Regional Conference on Population and Development, which brings together researchers and innovators throughout the region to share their findings and solutions toward a better future.

“As local leaders, our responsibility is to listen, to learn from evidence, and to turn knowledge into meaningful action. Kaya naman umaasa po ako na ang conference na ito ay hindi lamang matatapos sa isang araw na discussion and presentations. Nawa’y magsilbi itong simula ng mas maraming partnerships, programs, policies, and concrete action para sa ating komunidad sa CALABARZON.”
— Hon. Augustin M. Villaverde, Mayor of the Lucban Municipality, represented by Atty. Socorro Jane D.M. Averia, Acting Municipal Administrator

Mayor Villaverde, through Atty. Averia, underscored the significance of collaborative efforts towards community development as seen in the implementation of the 2026 CALABARZON Regional Conference on Population and Development.

“[T]he greatest measure of development is not simply economic growth, but how much better people’s lives become. Hindi lamang natin dapat itanong kung gaano kabilis umuunlad ang ating mga komunidad. We must also ask: Are our children healthier? Are our young people better prepared? Are our families stronger? Are our workers given opportunities? Are our older persons living with dignity? Because ultimately, development is about people.”
— Dr. Frederick T. Villa, University President

More than economic development, Dr. Villa reminds us that the true value of growth is measured by the quality of life it creates for people. This highlights the value of the 2026 CALABARZON Regional Conference on Population and Development, which brings together researchers and innovators from across the region to share their findings and solutions that can help build a better future.
