The gathering provided a space for students and organizations to raise concerns regarding repressive policies, censorship, militarization, surveillance, and issues affecting students and campus journalists, while remembering the lessons and experiences associated with Martial Law.
During the rally, a representative from SLSU Kasarian spoke on issues concerning student dignity, accountability, and inclusivity within the university community. SLSU Kasarian emphasized the importance of transparency in addressing the reported incident, alongside due process, accountability, and the protection of studentsโ dignity.
The organization also raised concerns regarding non-gender-affirming university policies, particularly policies affecting the recognition of studentsโ lived names during graduation. SLSU Kasarian highlighted the importance of creating a university environment where students, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community, can participate and be recognized with dignity and respect.
Also earlier this month, on September 13, SLSU Kasarian joined fellow progressive students and youth delegates in a collective discussion during ๐ท๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ at the Kiosko in Lucban, Quezon. The activity was organized by the College Editors Guild of the Philippines (CEGP) โ Quezon, Rise for Education โ Southern Luzon State University (R4E-SLSU) and fellow progressive youth organizations.
The discussion provided a space for students and youth to engage in conversations on pressing issues and concerns affecting the youth and the broader community, contributing to a continuing space for dialogue, participation, and collective expression.
From campus discussions to the streets of Lucban, SLSU Kasarian continues to stand with students in raising concerns that affect their dignity, rights, representation, and welfare.
As an organization committed to gender equality, representation, and student welfare, SLSU Kasarian continues to amplify voices, uphold dignity, and advocate for a campus where every student, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation, is seen, heard, respected, and represented.
