The Parliament: UPLB Debate Society is the only and official debate organization of UPLB

The Parliament: UPLB Debate Society is the official debate organization of the University of the Philippines Los Baños. Since its recognition in 2003, The Parliament has been continuously pursuing excellence as the only debate organization in UPLB, attaining exemplary accomplishments by excelling in debate tournaments inside and outside the country.

💚 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗟 𝗝𝗨𝗗𝗚𝗘𝗦 𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗦 𝗔 𝗦𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗛 𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗔𝗙𝗧! ❤️

🏛️ The Parliament expresses our great applause to the judges for their exceptional performance during the recent National Asian Highschool Debate Championship (NASHDC) last August 17-20 hosted by the La Salle Debate Society.

✏️ Miro Fortuna, L.A. Dadulo, and Vince Hubilla served as invited adjudicators and chaired the Open Octofinals. Miro also paneled the Novice Semifinals, while L.A. and Vince judged the Novice Finals. Vince’s intricacy in weighing the arguments and materials earned him the spot to be the tournament’s 10th Best Judge.

✏️ Miko del Rosario and Addie Macayan were also one of the tournament’s Invited Adjudicators, where both of them paneled during the Open Semifinals. Miko was also allocated to be one of the judges of the Novice Semifinals.

✊ Congratulations again UPLB contingent in taking up the challenge and performing well and shaping the local high school circuit!

❤️ 𝗔𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗕𝗢𝗢𝗞𝗦 𝗕𝗬 𝗧𝗢𝗕𝗜𝗧 💚

🏛️ The Parliament greatly applauds Tobit for his remarkable performance in Kamalig Novice Asian Parliamentary 4 last August 8-9 hosted by Kamalig Debate Tournaments. High school, college, and newly established debate societies clashed in the wits of arguments and adjudication.

🎤 Tobit Sanchez showcased his adjudications skills throughout the in-rounds and was able to break through the High School Finals as one of the panel.

✊ For every opportunity whether tournaments or training, the desire to be a better debater or adjudicator fuels the drive to fail, learn, and come back stronger.

🏛️ The Parliament congratulates one of our active judges in the circuit for their exemplary performance in Asia Schools Junior WSDC 2026 last June 20-21, hosted by Intertext Education.

✏️ Marvhie Binwag as one of the Invited Adjudicators in the tournament, splendidly weighed the matters and arguments within the rounds; hence, she got allocated for U14 Final as one of the panel.

✊ Whether in schools or collegiate, on local grounds or the international stage, our drive to grow as debaters and adjudicators keeps our passion burning bright.

⚖️ Our esteemed alumna, 𝗟𝗶𝗮 𝗗𝗲𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝗻, served as an 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗱𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿, presiding over the Asian Octofinals with distinction and providing her valuable skills in the EFL Semifinals as a judge

Fresh orientees clocked in and hit the ground running as they sat down to seek the ultimate Parl-Life balance with the members of the Parliament and to discover the wonders of debate. 🪪

🇵🇭 The Parliament is proud to present our breaking contingent at the Asian British Parliamentary Debate Championship (ABP) 2026 in Hanoi, Vietnam!

✊ After 8 grueling preliminary rounds on August 23-25, one team and one judge from The Parliament have advanced to the elimination rounds

🎤 UPLB A – Kyle Bensali and Ken Singson – broke as the 16th-ranked team in Asia with 16 team points and 1243 speaker points

⚖️ Our esteemed alumnus Lia Denise Tan also broke as a judge, being an Invited Adjudicator of the event

🌏 They will advance to the knock-out rounds starting August 27, competing among the best debaters in Asia for the championship title

💖 Let's cheer them on as they represent UPLB and the Philippines on the Asian stage!

🩶 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗢𝗗-𝗗𝗔𝗘𝗧-𝗦𝗦𝗘𝗬 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗘𝗦 𝗧𝗢 𝗔 𝗖𝗟𝗢𝗦𝗘 🩵

🏛️ The Parliament commends the its contingent last 2nd Angat Kabataan Debate Championship last August 15-16 hosted by Vinzons Pilot High School and LGU of Vinzons, and held on-site at Vinzons Pilot High School, Vinzons, Camarines Norte.

🎤 Impeccable performance brought upon by the team of Jill Panopio, Zali Sadueste, and Miro Fortuna who made through the in-rounds and meticulously fought in the out-rounds until the Open Grandfinals. Notably, Jill’s speaking prowess was able for her to reach the 10th Best Open Speaker, Zali’s impressive delivery earned her as the 6th Best Open Speaker, and lastly, Miro led the team’s cases with intricate analyses and was awarded as the tournament’s Overall Best Open Speaker.

✊ This tournament is special to the team as Miro and Zali are both from Bicol, and seeing the circuit grow was truly heartwarming for them. And for Zali, going back home and bringing Camarines Norte on the map was truly enough for her odyssey back home to be worth it!

🌏 From August 22 - 29, the Parliament will send its resident members to Hanoi, Vietnam, to compete at the Asian British Parliamentary Debate Championship (ABP) 2026, the largest and most prestigious British Parliamentary collegiate debating tournament in Asia, where top teams from all across the continent gather for this massive event, now boasting over a hundred teams from 50+ institutions.

✊ The organization offers its full support and will be cheering loudly in the days ahead!
